Welcome, all you Freepers, to the continuing C-span soap operas about judicial nominations. "The Guiding SEARCHLIGHT, " "As the SENATE Turns, "One NOMINATION to Live" "GERIATRIC Hospital" (for all you Byrd and Lautenberg fans out there). Follow along with us, as the Dems raise the level of histrionics, bloviation, pontification, and all around bad acting to new highs, er, lows...
It's just a joke. Those people who work for Kohl and Feingold are true Kool-Aid drinkers. They ARGUE with you!
Morning Jane.I'll be here for just a couple of hours today....what have I missed.
Reid rejected the 100hrs deal. Frist will not unilaterally give that now.
Even after the vote it won't be over. then they will bring each judge up for a vote. This is something that will go on through the entire summer and we'll have to remain committed.
I'm still in awe at the smackdown kennedy got. he lied again about what the AG said about owens, tried to hold the process, and brownback punched him out. He wanted to slander her character without even techically allowing the debate forward.
Frist up.
Frist doing a great job. Stay strong, Frist. We're with you.
The voting will not occur for many days - perhaps up to two weeks.
Speaking as Kennedy's constituent, that was beautiful!!
Kennedy was trying to pull a fast one by trying to reserve his right to object. The Dems will pull every trick in the book, but hopefully, Frist is ready for them.
Oh YEAH! Absolutely!! Feingold and I got in a heated argument when he was campaigning door-to-door and stopped here! Friggin' socialist Marxist!!
That was fun
ou missed Brownback shutting Kennedy up! It was great!
Loved it! And it's about time that pickled rat got the finger.
You mean, if I turn this on, I can stand to watch this?
Actually, Senators are allowed to "reserve the right to object", and then speak on the thing they might object to. I think Brownback got sick of it being done several times, however, with nothing constructive coming of it, and simply ruled it out of order.
Reid wanted he and Frist and Kennedy and some of the other senators to meet without staff or media and "talk it out amongst ourselves"---right, that is gonna happen!
Framers concluded President should have the right to appont, Senate confirm or deny by a vote. they debated this issue then and decided on this solution.
For 200 years Senators restrained themselves from taking advantage of the process...till the last Congress.
Oh yeah, WTG Frist! Dems try to stop Frist's powerful argument, Reps aren't going for it! Keep up Frist!
Since it's hopeless with my own Senators, maybe i'll call Frist's office and buck him up a little. If he has Presidential aspirations, he's going to need votes from across the country.
Frist is speaking and somebody wants him to YIELD for a question?
I will go nuts today.
