Welcome, all you Freepers, to the continuing C-span soap operas about judicial nominations. "The Guiding SEARCHLIGHT, " "As the SENATE Turns, "One NOMINATION to Live" "GERIATRIC Hospital" (for all you Byrd and Lautenberg fans out there). Follow along with us, as the Dems raise the level of histrionics, bloviation, pontification, and all around bad acting to new highs, er, lows...
My dad would call them "shad-wrappers."
It would seem that the Swimmer is all for the right to vote...except when Republicans are in the majority in the Senate.
Democrats have continued their same tired old rhetoric composed of lies, distortions, obstruction, mud slinging and begging RINO's to switch votes. They are irrelevant.
Meanwhile Republicans have been awesome. Right on topic, exposing their hypocrisy, stating the purpose of the Judiciary, defending the Constitution and defending these Justices.
IMO, the most interesting development hasn't been on the floor, though, but in the news Frist will be meeting with prominent black pastors to endorse Brown on Thursday. More info on Hughhewitt's blog.
Mark my words, they will do it immediately should they get the majority. And it will be done even if we backed away from this fight and let them keep it.
How long do we have to wait to hear "Sweet Rose O'Grady"?
In a just world, every one of these senators should have to undergo a hearing themselves before they could be administered the oath of office. A grilling of their personal pasts, past actions, and statements + plus the raw info in their FBI files would definitely winnow out the crooks, liars, and incompetents so that their bamboozeled voters would need to hold another election.
Who is this reading from proverbs???
Now we have this guy quoting Greek philosophers. Yeesh.
I know that the GOP members have too much class to do it, but I wish one of them would call the dems on their constant call-back to the Civil Rights Bill and era---
They are totally misconstruing how it went in the Senate, and of course they never mention their hero, KKK Byrd, now do they?
NO, of course the GOP won't, because they do have manners unlike Dorgan and gang.
Changing the filibuster for legislation is unconstitutional. Let them try.
There is not a Kennedy alive that should be allowed to procreate.
"Didn't the dems vote against Sessions when he was up for judge?"
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6511047/
Adding to the intrigue, 18 years ago, when Sessions was nominated for a federal judgeship, Democrats blocked the nomination with the help of a young Arlen Specter.
Chuckie and Hitlery do not represent me and I am personally offended every time he says this (of course that's true for every time he opens his slimy mouth). Count me in the other column, please. I don't have any representative voice in the Senate.
Max Baucus quoting Proverbs, Euripides, Heracles, and Bertrand Russell, all in the first two minutes!! LOL!
Max Baucus up quoting the Bible, etc. Wake me up when we get the floor back please.
Max Baucus d-Montana
Every Justice who has ever been seated on the Supreme Court has got there by a simple majority vote. There are NO exceptions.
You can do stats and come up with just about anything...Global warming is a good example.
I prefer a chart listing every Supreme Court Judge, the Majority Party at the Time, And the Vote...by Party and totals. I believe this chart will show that what they are doing is pure obstruction.
If there is a hell it would be in the visitors gallery listening to this debate for eternity.
