I just read a post on conservative blog that stated few freepers were veterans (implication was that we were chicken hawks). Having conversed with many of you and met a few, I do not believe that is the case. But it did get me wondering, who among us is active or prior service veterans? Awright you freeper vets SOUND OFF!

You are right. I mis-read my order. I have to report to the 1st CivDiv, NAS Backyard for an extended tour. It will be hard to leave, but I'll manage.

Typical kiddie argument--hardly worth a reply. The next argument will be that FR is populated only by blood-thirsty vets!
10 years active USAF and I am in the process of joining the Reserve.

Don't forget the owner of this site. And I followed in his footsteps. GMG on a tin can, 1969-1971.

I never saw combat during my years in the Army.
My son has been for several months now on his second deployment to Iraq. He has been involved in combat and he nearly bought it in the early days of the war. He and I both support the mission over there and have since day one, and even earlier.
Still, I wish that they would send him home already, as do likely a lot of military families feel about their own. Somebody has to do it though.

thoroughly undisciplined and am old to boot That 'old' moniker is relative, Missy...I'm old compared to you, and I know some FReepers who are old compared to me. Ma comes to mind. Shhhh....don't tell her I said that.
On the serious side...it takes a special person to make the personal committment to give up many of the liberties you enjoy on the outside for the rigors of a military life. You have my undying gratitude for trying.
