You know, frankly there are times I am ashamed to be an American. As I watched so many folks jump on the band wagon that our TROOPS flushed down the Koran I to was dismayed if in fact it were true. But I said clearly, I would hold off judgement as to the validity of the source and article.

Well, well, seems Newsweek is now offering an apology and regrets anyone who may have been killed by this erroneous reporting and to the troops here were caught in the cross hairs, they are again SORRY.

I know about Abu Ghraib, I see where folks seem to question our troops and that is alright, but hell, they should at least be open to the possibility that the story is not true, that the Pentagon said they would review ....

and now .... the source says he got it wrong.

Hey I want fair coverage. This accusation opened the flood gates to those who are fanatical and would take it out on our troops in a NY minute. Oh that is right, Newsweek does not look beyond the current issue or the aftermath of said article.

Had one of these guys flushed the Bible down the toilet I would be pissed but I to would wait for the truth to prevail before sliming anyone.

WTG, NEWSWEEK ... you stepped in bad stuff, you passed along bad stuff and all you think is the I AM SORRY card will work! NO NEVER not a cold day in hell.

Sorry if I am a bit upset and frankly on this subject if you do not agree with me than do not include my name in this discussion because there is nothing that anyone can say that would change my mind not now not NEVER.

Newsweek's actions are WRONG ... and the hardship placed on our troops over this article well (*^Y(*B(&*(GF**RV (T*&V &^CRV --- many many many bad words there). Did nobody learn a darn thing from the CBS mess?

TICKED OFF IN THE HEARTLAND

Our original source later said he couldn't be certain about reading of the alleged Qur'an incident in the report we cited, and said it might have been in other investigative documents or drafts.

The journalists and their editors were accessories to murder. They should be extradited to Afghanistan to face charges.

I'm not ashamed to be an American.

I'm ashamed the liberals at Newsweak are still Americans.

They could emigrate to Canada.

So basically, we have an entirely made-up story, likely designed to get people in Afghanistan inflamed, and intended to try and make our military and the Bush administration look bad.

And now Newsweek simply says "oops," and offers a weak apology, after a number of individuals have been killed in the rioting in Afghanistan, and the haters of democracy have even more fodder for their hatred of the United States!?!

My bet is that they knew the report was bogus all along. But they also knew that, even if they had to retract the story, the retraction would garner much less attention than the original story.

That's infuriating.

Not just troops -- Newsweek inflamed the fanatics and greatly increased the odds of attacks on Americans of any kind, anywhere, including civilians.

Newsweek lied, soldiers died!

This should be investigated by Congress and the Justice Department. The press has an explicit duty to check their facts and they obviously didn't here. The result was the endangerment and deaths of some of our troops and a straining of relations with governments we are building as democratic allies in an unfriendly part of the world. There was no real urgency to run this story, there was time to check and double-check the facts before publication. It is obvious that Newsweek's agenda was to harm the US military and President Bush to the detriment of the truth. I hope the White House and the Pentagon "shut out" Newsweek from any news other than allowing them to be present at normal briefings. They should not talk to Newsweek in anonymous "off the record" settings and they should refuse to take their questions at briefings and press conferences.

This is just in the spirit of ole Maggot [Michael] Moore-on, isn't it? How many troops did he get killed with his encouragement of the terrorists? And let's give credit where due to JFKerry, Barbara Boxer, the Dixie Chicks and every last loose-lips anti-American who've contributed to the deaths and casualties of who knows how many of our finest and bravest Americans!

O, and isn't newsweek the rag that pays Eleanor Clift's salary?

What Newsweek did was IRRESPONSIBLE and got people killed. Demand that your public school library end their subscription to this agitprop rag or else place a sticker on the covers saying, "Warning, Leftist Bias inside. Not liable for any deadly riots that may result from contents."

Everyone, everywhere who would like to favor a Free Press ought to be horrified by these NEWSWEEK MURDERS.

I have definitely had it with these FRAUDcasters. With "Freedom of" comes "Responsibility for...". That is what I was taught, it is what I demand from my children, and it is implicit in the Constitution.

It is time to demand more than a simple apology from these FRAUDcasters.

Newsweek Lied. People Died.

In many Muslim countries mere possession of a Bible is a serious offense.

The terrorist prisoners at Guantanamo are allowed to worship freely in ways Christians are not allowed to worship in many Muslim countries.

The hypocrisy is astounding. I have no love or pity for Newsweek but it's hard for me to have sympathy for rampaging Muslims who treat Christian believers like vermin in their own countries.
