CNN's Kelly Arena reports that one man is being held by Maryland State Police at an airport in Frederick, MD. The police are waiting for federal authorities to arrive on the scene.
The man is said to be the pilot of the small aircraft that triggered an evacuation of government buildings in downtown Washington when he reportedly violated restricted airspace.
Frederick, MD. is located about an hour northwest of Washington, D.C. along the I-270 corridor.
I don't know, this could be trouble. Those Amish can get pretty wacky.
How does one Blackhawk helicopter surround a Cessna 150?
That report is from an incident on the day of Reagan's funeral.
Thanks.
I detest the press (most of them) and the lawmakers who are ridiculing this ordeal. What the heck do they all expect everyone to do in an emergency -- the extent of which is never known as it is happening?
This really drives me crazy. So does all the ridicule directed towards the color code alert system. Anyone with half a brain can handle the system. If the system alert is raised, then, well: BE MORE CAUTIOUS. It is that simple. But not to our simpleton media and lawmakers of course. They say it is "confusing," the sheeple hear their comments and then simply parrot them back to cbsnbcabc, cnn and the other lamestream outlets.
What a pathetic performance by the press corps. Scott ought to hand out Pampers to the lot of them for the next time this happens.
"I just fear the loss of the freedom of movement in exchange for the freedom to be a radical muslim."
I understand that, but I think no-nonsense no-fly zones and quick responses to violations thereof (a la today) are not any real restriction of movement. Besides, it's hard to get a 1966 Olds to more than about 3 feet altitude... ;)
Very quickly.....
LOL! ;-)
Does anybody know if there are windows on this plane that can be opened in flight?
Well, the terrorists could try to run us all down with '88 Olds.
"At exactly what time did the alert drop to yellow? 11:13?"
"No, I believe it was 12:03."
And this is furthering democracy exactly how?
Un-believeable silliness.
Why are they still blabbing at least no one lost any limbs or was injured in the slightest.
I bet the front line troops in Iraq are RITSLTAO(rolling in the sand)at this comic opera!
holy crap. you really CAN find anything on the internet these days. amazing.
Or, you could pack one nuke suitcase in that small plane...in that case, you wouldn't even have to be close...
Seems like 500 is about right. How much could you stuff in the Olds? That is why I brought that point up. How about a Dodge 3500 dually with a camper top? 20K lbs???? Which one can travel under a TFR without notice?
Since you own an airplane, you know as well as anyone that anything with wings is easily sensationalized, and makes a great whipping boy for the media.
Not to mention, most cars now days are actually faster than the 150 (105kts ias).
Lots of laughing in the press. Scott was not amused.
My point is simply the TSA, and their goofy TFRs are a waste of time and have now value to national security.
I bet Scott wishes he had a plane full of C-4 to drop on the lot of them!
"Where exactly was the President biking?" Give me a break!
