CNN's Kelly Arena reports that one man is being held by Maryland State Police at an airport in Frederick, MD. The police are waiting for federal authorities to arrive on the scene.
The man is said to be the pilot of the small aircraft that triggered an evacuation of government buildings in downtown Washington when he reportedly violated restricted airspace.
Frederick, MD. is located about an hour northwest of Washington, D.C. along the I-270 corridor.
Pilot is registered in Pennsylvania. Smallest Cessna...a two seater, according to FNC.
In further developments, after seeing the fighter escort to take him to the airport, the pilot's first request upon landing was for a fresh set of undershorts....
Golly, I hope there's no racial profiling going on. Because that would be, like, bad.
You know where in PA? I live near a small airport--wonder if the moron is from there!
Isn't that the 2nd or 3rd time recently? May be testing the reaction or setting the stage so that we aren't as caeful in the future, like crying wolf.
CNN now showing live video, courtesy of Fox D.C. affiliate WTTg, of the Cesna 150 on the ground at the Frederick airport. It is surrounded by what looks like a Blackhawk helicopter and Maryland State police cars and other vehicles. Several people seen standing near the plane.
Chuckle. Reported "warning shots" from the F 18's. I'd need new shorts, pants, shoes, socks and a new seat for the aircraft....
May have been a test probe by either the good or bad guys.
Is anyone else annoyed that the press keeps pointing out how small it is, with the unspoken assumption that it could do little damage?
What if the thing was carrying a little ebola, or a nuke?
"Nope. I can't get my hands of the wheel!" Just like Planes, Trains, and Automobiles...fingers dug into the dash.
Jaws of life just to pry the fingers loose....
I hope this was just someone that made an innocent mistake, and got the scare of a lifetime.
I just did a background check on the Cessna that was intercepted based on the N number on the tail.
It looks like the plane was rented.

According to FOX the guy ignored radio warnings. Turned out of restricted airspace after flares were fired and then turned back toward the capital.
To me this sounds deliberate. Probably some left wing nutjob.
Man in handcuffs being led to MD. State Police cruiser. Looks to be caucasian. Wearing shorts, sneakers and shirt. Being put in front seat of car. Guy looks to be under 40.
Is he islamic?
Wasn't that the home of the Chemical and Biological Warfare development?
Fox 5 in DC just said "Smoketown, PA" Wherever that is.
