NAIROBI, Kenya - A stray dog saved the life of a newborn baby after finding the abandoned infant in a forest and apparently carrying it across a busy road and through some barbed wire to her litter of puppies, witnesses said. ADVERTISEMENT

The stray dog found the infant, clad in tattered clothing, in a poor neighborhood near the Ngong Forests in the capital of Nairobi, Stephen Thoya told the independent Daily Nation newspaper. ***SNIP*** Full story here: http://story.news.yahoo.com/s/ap/kenya_abandoned_baby Good Hunting... from Varmint Al

man is the most savage animal in God's kingdom. No other species of animal kills strictly for the joy of killing.

Not true. Walruses kill penguins for no apparent reason other than fun.

The dog was reportedly very tasty as well when barbequed.

Yeah, but it's been proven that they do it due to the effects of Halliburton's existence and the war in Iraq.

So basically, dogs care more about human life than we do?

Most of them do, yes. And you get companionship and affection as a bonus.

I understand that the local population is caring very well for, not only the infant, but also for the mom and her puppies.
I love stories like this one.

That's ironic, a cat's brain is more similar to a human's brain than that of a dog and it was a human who left the child to die.

Paul Harvey just had a piece on this. He said the baby was in a plastic bag and the dog picked up the bag, carried the baby across a busy road, and through two barbed wire fences to a place where her puppies were hidden.

After the baby was discovered (Harvey was unclear as to how that happened), the baby is now in the hospital, in good health, and they are receiving a lot of donations for the baby - - and the dog as well.

He speculated that the reason the baby was in such good health was that the mother dog may have nursed it. It's unknown how long the baby had been with the doggy until discovered.

Good Good Doggy!!

man is the most savage animal in God's kingdom. No other species of animal kills strictly for the joy of killing. Not true, check out some of the recent research from the the Jane Goodall group. apparently chimps not kill other animals for no known reason but also plan and carry out murder amongst their own kind. There is also research that shows different bands of chimps plan and execute something that could only be described as organized warfare.

"No other species of animal kills strictly for the joy of killing."

Except for cats, and some dogs, and Orcas, and some Raptors. Are you sure you want to stick with that claim? There are instances of many animals killing for reasons other than hunger. Many just for fun.

"How could anyone prefer cats after hearing stories like this?"

What's surprising to me is how anyone could take a story that doesn't mention cats at all and somehow use it to bash cats? You must really, really hate cats.

Do you also twist threads that have nothing to do with abortion and try to turn them into abortion threads as well?

Thanks for more info. I suppose the plastic bag was a good thing.
I cannot understand how a mother can abandon a child.

Dogs do have great instincts...hearing a baby cry brings out the best in many dogs.

I was wondering if the stray dog was taking the baby as food for its pups.

(I am an avid dog-lover, by the way)

Well, it wasn't the dog that saved the baby.
