Should We Let Slide the Goggle-Eyed Bride? - (too funny!)
TOWNHALL.COM ^ | MAY 8, 2005 | DOUG GILES

Posted on 05/08/2005 1:46:01 PM PDT by CHARLITE

Never has our nation been more united than in our current consensus that Jennifer Wilbanks is officially coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs. I’m talkin’ coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs. Y’know, we can’t seem to harmonize over Iraq, judicial nominees, or what to do with social security, but we have formally joined in one accord and have spewed our national coffee over the goggle-eyed runaway bride, aka, Jenny from Georgia. It seems as if this Georgia peach has officially begun to turn.

For what it’s worth, here’s what I propose we require of this damsel who’s hanging on by a thin wire: 1. I think we should not accept the apology she gave last Thursday until we get to see her self-inflicted hair-do. 2. I think she should also apologize to Hispanic men everywhere for accusing one of them of her feigned abduction. As a Caucasian male, I think I can speak for my Latino hermanos by saying … as if! Pamela Anderson, maybe. Jennifer Wilbanks … yeah … right. 3. I think her apology was a little thin on Thursday and didn’t do justice to the distraction she caused Gwinnett law enforcers from pursuing real missing persons and criminals versus looking for this spoiled ham. 4. In addition, I think for the next ten years Jenny should be forced to slog through Georgian bogs to look for any lost persons, pets, or coins without being afforded waders, a compass, a GPS, sunscreen, or Deep Woods Off. 5. Lastly, I’m sensing Jenny needs a good ole-fashion exorcism. And I think we deserve, if we desire, to watch it. Her Pastor stated that she needs some “spiritual counseling” and is going through a “rough time.” Ya think? It’s beyond that, my brother.

Jennifer … what’s up, girl? What were you thinking?

I think she has an honesty deficiency. And, they don't make a vitamin for that.

You have a good point.

While I do think she should be held accountable, I find it offensive how a number of posters here (perhaps from DU or simply people bitter with their own lives) have jumped on the groom, the ministers, and other innocent bystanders.

According to what is known now, the fiance did nothing wrong. I found him rather charming and open, not another OJ. And after what he and her parents went through, they behaved better than I would have in their place.

Harpo, but it wasn't a constant thing and only done for a frame or three, unlike Jen, who might have a thyroid condition, since she always looks bugeyed.

Harpo made the bugeyed face, not Chico. :-)

Cantor started in show business in the '30s, made pictures in the '30s and early '40s. By the '50s, he was just about forgotten. He was known as "banjo eyes".

I also heard today this was not her first cold feet run away, seems she pulled the same trick eight years ago on another bridegroom that never was.

The press were the ones that caused this to balloon. Shouldn't they be held responsible?

My theory is we should leave her alone. Nothing to do with PC, it's just embarrassing to continue beating a dead horse.

The woman is in common language, crazy. In clinical language, she has mental problems.
That she can vote, make contracts, and act grownup is just a side issue. Legally, she counts as much as a normal person. The law says so.

But she's still mentally ill.

How in the world is breaking an engagement considered to be running away?

You are so willing to pass harsh judgement on someone because no doubt your life is as pure as the driven snow.

If this circus act continues to a marriage, which I think it will, the blame for the failure will be cast on the MSM, the Blogousphere, and Internet chat rooms. Jenn from Atlanta will look for any excuse to blame anyone/thing else for the collapse and failure of their wedding.

If she thinks 600 of her closest friends and family was a pressure packed event, the world media blitz might carry a little more weight.

Just my opinion, sorry if I am swimming in the wrong stream.

Why this story has captured the attention of the media and the public is beyond what any of us can explain.

Oh, for pete's sake! The reasons are (1.) Because MOST people do get married and they DON'T behave this way, (2.) She is 32 years old, not 15!!!, (3.) He is obviously nuts to WANT to marry such a dim bulb, (4.) Both families are equally nuts for not facing the fact that Jenny Wenny is missing a few cards from the deck, (5.) Trying to tell the world that these folks are 'normal' is as goofy as telling the world that Hillary and John Kerry (among many others) are 'just plain folks'. Yeah, right!

Hey! You're right! Obviously Jenny Empty-Brain is highly qualified to be a Demo candidate for office!

The ONLY issue I am wondering about is WHY is this groom staying a groom.

It APPEARS she went on a cheating spree, just idle speculation on my part with absolutly nothing to back that up other than what has been implied or stated in the MSM.

Perhaps he is just trying to do the right thing and will ultimatly dump her just not in front of the world.

I agree with you. Why is everyone pouncing on her like predators on wounded prey? The media sold them a story line. They bought it. Unfortunately for all who were enraptured with this, she didn't turn up dead and beheaded in a ditch, but alive and unharmed. Big disappointment, so now they want revenge. Do something to her, anything, the more degrading the better.

I can't believe the "extreme" nastiness in some of the postings with regard to this women and her fiance. I'm quite thankful at the moment that none of my mistakes in life are out in the open for the whole world to view and criticize. What she did was definitely wrong, it is obvious to me that she is in need of help. Why continue to kick someone when they are down? As to someone reserving "sex" for marriage, some people don't believe that it is "odd" to wait until married to share this God given gift. I will agree it seems inappropriate for two adults to live together prior to marriage even if they are not "sexually active". The rest of the story is really none of our business, IMHO.

Interesting...Why anyone pays attention to this crap is beyond me. The only thing that comes to mind is "bread and circus". Focus the mundane on the mundane.

Well, according to the article she already is well-versed at stealing from big, evil corporations and giving to herself.
