A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

~ Billie, Mama_Bear, Dutchess, Aquamarine, Dolly Cali ~

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"I'm going to plant flowers tomorrow"

Happy planting :-)

Looks like I will be running betwixt the raindrops tomorrow, tossing grass seed. No planting here tomorrow. LOL, on Sunday it will be cloudy and windy, maybe I should hold off on tossing that grass seed :-)

Have a great weekend.

Mother's Day Blessings to all the Mom's

Thank you, BIS.

==============================================

Just received another update from our Senate Majority Leader, Bill Frist:

"40,000 ft. over the Atlantic ... en route back to Washington.

Since last I wrote, we have traveled extensively throughout the region and visited with numerous leaders ... King Abdullah in Jordan ... Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah ... Prime Minister Najib Mikati in Lebanon ... President Mubarak in Egypt.

So many leaders ... so many different regions ... so many diverse ethnic backgrounds.

All expressed a desire for peace, and struck on the themes of free and fair elections, an independent judiciary and other democratic reforms.

Who would have thought -- even a few years ago -- that we would be talking about such things in some of these regions of the world?

I heard it time and again ... the importance of establishing a long-lasting and meaningful dialogue on how to bring peace and stability to the region.

Along the way ... we visited police training centers, hospitals, community centers. I even met a Lebanese student who will be attending Vanderbilt in the Fall!

So many vibrant faces ... individuals who simply want democracy and economic opportunity ... individuals who simply want to be free.

Things that we -- from time to time -- take for granted, I think.

I found myself recalling the words of the President in his Inaugural Address:

"When you stand for your liberty, we will stand with you."

Those words took on a whole new meaning for me these past few days ...

I have never been more encouraged about the prospects for peace in this region, and I remain absolutely convinced that we are on the right path ... a path that will help shape the future of this region and ensure the spread of prosperity and peace for millions.

Bill Frist

==============================================

Heartenating to hear of so many meaningful contacts being made, and new relationships in the making...

Please, Lord, bring Your bearing on these nations to establish peace for the sake of all.
Amen.

"When you stand for your liberty, we will stand with you."

I was proud of President Bush when he spoke these words :-) deadhead and family were cheering loudly, great memory.

"My all-time favorite graphic"

Smiling, I am glad it is. Just had to post it for your birthday celebration :-)

If you remember, when Nan and I met in person (nearly two years ago!), for a gift for her, I took that graphic and copied and printed it out.

Bought a slightly larger frame, and on a mat around the graphic strewed and glued some of my own pansies I had pressed in my Strong's Concordance.
(really heavy reading! - lol)

Believe she hung it on a wall in her house that is featured in today's Pledge of Allegiance - the house with the white and pink dogwood trees, isn't it, Nan?

Remember that well, it came out lovely. Went searching for the Sistah meeting thread, this pic of the two of you is so touching.

Oh, dutchess, you are such an important part of creating the joy we find here at The Finest!
It has to be tough with your outside work, plus the responsibilities at home.

Please know you (and all the hostesses and hosts) are greatly appreciated and loved...
