"Oh indeed. But in my constituency, they don't count the Tory votes, they weigh them - Tyrie won't have any problems. I find him totally uninspiring, but never mind.
Regards, Ivan"
Sounds like my kind of town. My county here (Butler County, Ohio) went for Bush by 66% last November.

This admin has cut taxes, increased defense spending and (hopefully) cut bureaucracy. Has increased gov't spending and done zilch about defending the borders.

The Journal of the Royal Statistical Society (one of the series) did an article on the failures of exit polling for that election. They did find some systematic errors in their procedures.

The average Brit hates political correctness we have firemen not firefighters, policemen and policewomen et c etc despite what official forms might say.
Also we have Christmas holidays and children still have carol and easter services at school especially junior schools

I'm not sure how to feel about this election. I want conservatives to win, but I also don't want Blair to lose cause he supported the USA.

Blair loosing would be good for the US IMHO don't forget he is socialist and Howard is a Conservative.

Thanks!
I've been reading conflicting articles about whether or not it would be good if the Tories won or not (mostly NRO stuff). From what I read it appears Howard was hammering Blair on Iraq which left me a little worried. I doubt there would be a change but it left enough room for doubt....
Thoughts?

cut bureaucracy.
I don't believe they have. I see the same bureaucracy being used for new purposes and sometimes expanded, as with No Child Left Behind, which now has the Department of Education scrutinizing test results from all 50 states.

The British media have been dreadful in this election I swear they are moving further and further left last night was appalling how they were twisting everything to favour labour which I thought was truly dreadful on the eve of the election.

IIRC a term lasts for 5 years, but a PM has the right at any time during that term to dissolve Parliament and call for a new election.
