Woman Allegedly Attacked Man With Hammer Over An Affair

QUESTA, N.M. -- Deputies arrested a New Mexico state senator's wife for an attack on her husband.
Patsy Cisneros, 50, wife of Sen. Carlos Cisneros, allegedly attacked the senator with a hammer Monday night, claiming he was with another woman.
He says the woman was just a guest.
It happened at a cabin in Questa.
According to a statement of probable cause, Patsy Cisneros admitted to going to the cabin with her sister and hitting her husband on the head with a hammer. She is also accused of breaking windows and taillights of a car at the scene that she thought was the other woman's.
Cisneros spent a night at the Taos County Adult Detention Center.
This marital fight is about to get messier. Cisneros has issued a domestic violence restraining order against his wife. He also said he is filing for divorce.
Patsy Cisneros will soon file domestic violence charges of her own against her husband. Both she and her sister received medical attention for cuts and bruises.
The other woman escaped unharmed. She told deputies she was there to help Cisneros prepare for his upcoming campaign.
Patsy Cisneros faces charges of aggravated battery against a household member, two counts of criminal damage to property, and criminal trespass.
The Democratic senator, who serves Los Alamos, Santa Fe, Rio Arriba and Taos counties, was not seriously injured and was back at work Tuesday. He suffered a cut on his head from the hammer.
