Welcome to the Marburg Surveillance Project.
This thread will be used for all of the latest Marburg Outbreak News and comments. This is the place to post all comments about the Marburg outbreak, all articles and links to articles about the Marburg outbreak.

Maybe...maybe not. Reported new cases have been spiking about every 12 days. Around May 29 there could be another spike in reported cases if this follows the (reported) cycle to date.
If reported cases do increase around then it might give the virologists a pattern / cycle to evaluate.

Judith,
You can not believe that can you?
12 day period? Could be the turn around time for test results. Or could be when the body collectors tally the total number. A 12 day cycle is probably more human cause then virus.

Okay, but there doesn't seem to be any news anywhere about the outbreak. How to find out what's going on? If the biggest outbreak of VHF in history were truly under control, the Angolan government would be telling their people what a wonderful job they have done. They would have reporters crawling all over the place reassuring the world, and asking for humanitarian aid at the same time.
None of this is happening. NO independent reports are coming out of the infected areas. NONE. NADA. ZIP. The WHO comes the closest, and they simply parrot the government's line.
The American CDC has chosen complete silence. Even Kelly_2000 has vanished.
It seems clear that a tight lid has been placed on all news about Marburg from Angola. We hear absolutely nothing from any source except the Angolan government. And they have zero credibility.
Good news would be shouted from the rooftops.
The silence is deafening.

Even Kelly_2000 has vanished. Kelly just posted over on the flu thread, so I may have to cancel that part of my last post. However, she has stated that the CDC refuses to let her know what is going on with Marburg.
