'24' : An hour of realism
The Washington Times ^ | 4/29/05 | Christian Toto

Fox's "24" is pulling off the unthinkable this season. No, it's not that it's one-upping previous seasons with an electric blend of nightmare terrorist scenarios and bold twists. It's that it's dispensing with the politically correct evasions that pervade prime time episodic television. "24" identifies the terrorist enemy without flinching and lets the good guys fight to win -- without apologies. In the process, the show is earning a conservative cult following.

Cloe's first taste of blood may turn her into a Field Agent before too long.

We have an er, ahem, rat in our laundry room, where he's lived in semi-luxury for like a month.

Every night the domestic partner puts out a humane trap, but The Rat won't go far enough in to trip it. Only far enough to get the bait he puts closer to the door.

I have named the rat Marwan. (he'll never be caught)

It's like reading a good Clancey novel especialy if tou watch a whole season of 24 on DVD in just a day or so. More twist and turns than a bowl of spaghetti.

'24' : An hour of realism

Terrorists steal a steath fighter... to shoot down Air force One,... to get the Football,... to steal the launchcodes... that lay in the house that Jack built.

Actually I welcome the break from reality.

Someone who wants reality should read the 9/11 report. It is just as gripping as any Clancy novel and the reality makes it much scarier.

Less than three hours to the next episode of '24' and I can't wait.

That's a plot twist I didn't like, because I kind of liked him, but he is an idiot.

24 sucks worse than before. Every "agent" besides Jack is nothing more than a Star Trek "Red Shirt".

Every episode, I'm rooting for th bad guys.

That sure beats a same old plot mystery that just ends with no resolution whatsoever.

This series is so well done - a movie with such would be a sure fire hit.

Keifer needs praise for bringing back the weekly cliff hangers for the younger generations. Old timers had this on their Saturday serials at the movie. Each week just waiting for next Saturday.

Very smart programming in an industry rife with no plot ridiculous trash language wannabe shows.

I've only watched 15 minutes of '24' since it's inception. The plots are too predictable. A plate of ribs and a cold beer were far more enticing than sitting in front of the boob tube...even though I had to walk half a mile from my hotel room to the restaurant.

The "Murder She Wrote" series was likewise unbelievable. How many people ever have contact with a murder in the span of a lifetime? The main character manages a murder every week. Not very real.

Those DVD's will be the best TV you have seen. If renting, the very best rentals we have had. We would watch 4 shows in one night - and then go get the next 4 for the next night. Just could not wait any longer.

Yeah and slimy lawyers from ACLU and Amnesty International aren't thwarting our every attempt to get the information we need from detained terrorists, yep, that's realism.
