United States Attacked
Val Kilmer-in London to star onstage in 'The Postman Always Rings Twice'--has been trashing Americans, saying they are ignorant and illiterate.
Asked how British audiences compare to American ones, Kilmer told the London Sun Newspaper, 'They are smarter. They read books.'
Kilmer then berated Broadway for becoming too 'Vegas like.'

He should not have said it but what he says does have a grain of truth.
Sad to say that more people know paris hiltons dog's name than who is the vice pres of the the US.
Americans are not stupid they have just placed more emphasis on wacky culture than what is really important.
Wonder what Val's recent reading list is like? One hundred issues of Batman don't count Mr. Kilmer.
It's just sour grapes because, unlike the loonie lefties in London, Hollywood, NYC, and Val himself, Americans are too SMART to passively sit through any more of the socialist brainwashing that passes for Hollywood movies these days.
Having a little trouble getting gigs these days Val? When movie stars revert to doing 'plays', they are has-beens. Just because the play is in London doesn't make it any less embarrasing for you Val.
You last movie in which an American President sacrificed his own daughter to drugs/prostitution for political gain didn't do so well, huh? Sounds to me like Val was too stupid to realize America is on to him and his lefty cronies with their Anti-American themes and socialist agendas.
Too bad Val, you were great as Doc Holiday in Tombstone. Nothing else about your career stands out to me though, obviously you should never have tried to be a leading man.

What, they are MAKING FUN OF OUR GREAT LIBERAL EDUCATION SYSTEM?? How dare they, why, at least 50% of our high school graduates can actually read the Communist Manifesto!!
U.S. citizens in Europe attacking Americans in an attempt to gain the approval of their hosts appears to be an epidemic.
Ever notice how these types avoid speaking of anything confrontational like this when they're out hawking their latest film? Gutless is one word that comes to mind...shallow is another...
Actually, I really enjoyed him as Doc Holiday in Tombstone.. He also did a pretty good job in that Doors movie.
Too bad he turned out to be just another hollywood blowhard.
I think what he is saying is that he is so stupid, he isn't even aware that there are blogs and watchdogs everywhere now. There was a time where celebrities could score easy cheap points with a foreign audience by badmouthing America. But those points aren't so cheap anymore...just ask the Dixie Chicks (of course, Johnny Depp seems to have gotten a pass).
another reason for home schooling........
heck, looking at the state of american education and media entertainment, who would conclude otherwise? American are frighteningly ignorant overall. How many can find the US on a world map? 50%?
I really liked him in "Real Genius" because it was a pretty funny movie. Alas, another Hollyweird celebrity goes on the boycott list.
Probably reading while he's performing, too.
How is it that Americans are not well educated? Why we pay $$$ and $$$ and more $$$ for our public school system. Are you saying your can't buy a good public school education in this country? Are you saying real quality isn't necessarily a function of how much one pays? I think that is what you are saying....and I think you are RIGHT!!!
Ever notice that these clowns wait until they are overseas before they insult Americans...
Insulting the people who pay your rent isn't exactly the smartest thing in the world to do...
duhhhh
Of course people who pay ten bucks these days to go see these sorry excuses for acting are STUPID!
Well, isn't that special?
That may be...from a humorous standpoint, but not very literate.
That's becuase people don't go to the library to read. They go to Barnes & Noble or Borders, where they can spend hours and hours reading and drinking coffee and doing research and no one tells you to "schissss." I just drove by my local B & N and even at 10:15 a.m. the lot was full of cars.
Agreed. I really enjoyed his performance as Doc Holiday in Tombsone.
