PCs seized in missing Ga. bride-to-be case

DULUTH, Ga. (AP) - Investigators have taken several computers from the home of a missing bride-to-be to examine e-mails for clues to her disappearance, police said Friday.

Jennifer Wilbanks, 32, was reported missing Tuesday night by her fiance, John Mason, who said she did not come home after her nightly jog in this Atlanta suburb. He said she left with only her radio and the clothes she had on.

Police found Wilbanks' keys, cash, credit cards and identification in the home she shared with Mason.

Chief Randy Belcher said investigators took three computers from the home and were reviewing e-mails.

Officers who searched Wilbanks' neighborhood were also testing several sweat shirts for any connection to the case, though the police chief seemed doubtful. "We've picked up pieces of clothing all over," he said. Authorities said they considered the case a criminal investigation, but police gave mixed signals about whether they believe Wilbanks may have gotten cold feet.

Maj. Don Woodruff said authorities did not believe Wilbanks was a runaway bride. But under questioning from reporters, Belcher later said: "It's a very real possibility she did get cold feet. I mean, how many husbands have gone out for a pack of cigarettes and not come back?"

Belcher said Mason had told authorities he would decide Friday whether to take a polygraph test.

Who's with me?

The percentages, at least.

yeah. you jog until you're out of the city, find an isolated area and do it. it ain't hard.

it IS possible that she has been abducted as well, probably a higher liklihood, but there ARE other possibilities than "the boyfriend did it"

I know someone who was accused of a crime (didnt do it it turns out) who was dead afraid of taking a police polygraph. People are SCARED of those things, because they are afraid that any bit of anxiety might show up as guilt. Many folks will go to a private polygrapher first, to test the waters. If they pass, they give out the results, if they fail, no one ever finds out about it.

As my friend was preparing to go to a private poly, the police called and said they had the real perp in custody, oops sorry.

I saw the fiancee on Greta VS - he was emotionless. At first I thought he was just in shock, but he was just weird. I thought he did it at that point - up till then I thought she got dragged off.

I really didn't follow that case as i was too young at the time. I can say that wrt the Laci Peterson case, i didn't think Scott P looked like a psycho at first. He did look guilty tho. It wasn't until he got arrested that he started to look psycho.

No kidding!

I would NEVER take a polygraph. With a 10% false positive, only a knucklehead would gamble their innocence on one of those!

maybe she took an alternate way out - maybe she offed herself? that would explain why she took nothing with her.

Doesn't make sense. I've heard they found a clump of CUT hair near her work (which was also where she jogged). I think she got cold feet, cut her hair to change her looks and booked it.

What struck me was the fiance said the same thing Scott Peterson did, he said "the police has advised me no to talk to the public." Yesterday, during the police press conference, the chief did not confirm that they advised him of that. This precise thing happened with Scott Peterson.

I agree with you, the polygraph is a interrogation tool, not a "lie-detector", hence why the GBI does not want it videotaped. On the best of days, those things are only 50/50 and very subjective. Nonetheless this whole case does have a Scott Peterson ring to it.

The fiance is the son of the former Mayor of Duluth and the wedding was supposed to have had 600 guests and 28 in the bridal party. I think he got cold feet - couldn't face the embarrassment of not going through with it.

They both just stated their opinions about the case. Neither one asserted that they knew for a fact he's guilty.

Agreed about the boyfriend. I saw him on TV and I really
do not want to think that he did it. I didn't see anything
about him that was so creepy.

It took me one look at that dude to decide he killed her.

But I learned on FR that it's the women who beat up on men. Men are the victims. /sar

that's another possibility. we have a mind pattern here that sez "bf did it" until proven otherwise. i don't think that's wise. there are a whole slew of possibilities of varying probability.

i saw her pics. cute, but her eyes were always bugging out...

Interesting. The first iteration of this article I read said he'd be willing to volunteer for one, not that he'd not yet decided.

I don't know whether or not he did it quite yet, but to be so quick to blurt out the thing about cold feet like he did makes him suspect. glad to see we've already got him tried convicted and sentenced in the court of public opinion.

And what did Ted Bundy look like to you?

My mom met him once (she worked at a radio station, and he was an advance man for Dan Evans, who was governor of Washington at the time). She said he was very handsome and charming.

Another friend of mine once had lunch with him -- again, charming and very personable.
