I know someone who was accused of a crime (didnt do it it turns out) who was dead afraid of taking a police polygraph. People are SCARED of those things, because they are afraid that any bit of anxiety might show up as guilt. Many folks will go to a private polygrapher first, to test the waters. If they pass, they give out the results, if they fail, no one ever finds out about it.

As my friend was preparing to go to a private poly, the police called and said they had the real perp in custody, oops sorry.

IMO, that is absurd.. to be afraid to take a polygraph test when you know you didn't do it.

It takes alot more than a polygraph test to convict somebody of murder.

If I were in his shoes, and I was completely innocent as he claims he is, I wouldn't hesistate one second to take the polygraph test.

Clearing yourself of the polygraph allows the investigators to focus the investigations in another direction instead of wasting time investigating a dead-end and that's the first thing I'd want them to do.
