Just announced...Reid is to speak on Judicial nominations..
Only if a Senator (one) onbjects to taking the vote. Absent unanious consent, a group of 16 Senators can move for cloture, limiting the time to debate on a subject, after which there WILL be a vote. Invoking cloture takes a 60 vote supermajority. Once cloture is invoked, the ONLY subject the Senate works on is the item that is the subject of the cloture motion.
I've heard of a HoMo.
But a HerMo... that's a lesbian, right?
Which makes sense, talking about Hillary Clinton.
Harry Reid makes me sick.
Ahh, the RORO. In other contexts, known as a "Roll On - Roll Off" vessel (ferry boat).
I'm working on a RUT-ROH, but haven't figured out what that stands for.
GOOD FOR YOU! LAZ...pull the trigger, Bill! :))
Not sure if I concur..This is Schumer's issue..he's staked it out as his territory..so she's probably HAPPY to give him the headlines on this..
FYI...Check out the 'toon in #317..
THanks..see..I make a funny..and I get your great 'toon..which I have now stolen...
Additionally I think that they should address how after a half a century of approving ninety percent of appealant court judges to move to a floor vote since Truman, with Bush Sr. and Clinton both getting over seventy percent (70%) as partisan colliegiality failed, now they sit holding Bush to only FIFTY (50%) of his selection for such judicial appointments.
How can they claim to be anything but partisan obstructionists when the judges they are holding up include the First Black Woman to serve on the California Supreme Court, a justice that wrote the majority of that court's opinions in the 2002 session and many others of equal stature.
Harry Reid is making his own caucus sick..
#320...LOL!
Never thought I would ever say this.
I miss Tom Daschle.
Harry Reid so worse.
Lucky dog!
I think we just witnessed the REAL tipping point last week thanks to Voinovich.
I think Republicans heard the outrage and they are finally going to act on it. This is a battle to the death, and whoever loses this fight is going to go down in flames in the 2006 elections. If the Democrats don't find a way to stop Bush from putting his people at the Appellate level and then on the Supreme Court, they are going to get pulverized by the Move On gang when they withdraw their money and support. The current Dems thought they could use the radicals for their money, while giving them only some of what they want.
But this battle is not about just judges and majorities and power, but about the only two issues that the radical left cares about: Abortion and the Environment. The two issues where they have NEVER won on in Congress, but only through Judicial Activism. If they lose the Courts, they lose everything.
So if (and when) the Dems lose this fight; Move On, Soros and all the other Money sources are not going to support anyone but Hillary, and who Hillary wants them to support. That means she will be the effective head of the Democratic Party.
When Frist pulls the trigger, look for some to call for Harry Reid's head in favor of Hillary. That would give her a platform for the next 3 years by which to campaign for President. Reid will be blamed for over-reaching instead of finding the compromise he is so desperately searching for right now.
Hillary wants her side to lose, because this will effectively wipe out any opposition to her within her party. Frist and the boys understand that if they LOSE this fight, the same thing is still going to happen, but to OUR side instead. If we lose, the money is going to disappear, and we will lose our majority, and send the spineless jerks in our party home.
I think we just witnessed a democratic meltdown. Not even with all their coordinated media attacks are they able to prevent this. They counted on Republicans wimping out, and if Frist and the boys can one time; just this one damn time, act like winners, we can shove this vote right up the Democrat's ass and make them like it.
Because if we fail, the Republican Party is over.
But, she's got the FBI files and I'm sure tons of dirt on everyone. If people go to jail to protect her and his butt, what else can one think.
Why do I think Foster was going to squeal and Brown was considering fessing up.
That's fitting, because I stole it from somebody else too.
Excellent points, PD..and if I might add..I thinka lot of the pressure is coming from within the GOP caucus itself..Nearly 25% were elected in the last two campaigns...2002 and 2004..and liek Thune..they fought the race ON these issues..and they won..I head Thune, Vitter, and Coleman in the Senate last week...they do NOT want to compromise..they want to govern..

Tall soldier: Fight against that? No, we will run, and we will live.
William: Ay, fight and you may die, run and you'll live. At least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom.
