A new view of the Eagle Nebula, one of the two largest and sharpest images Hubble Space Telescope has ever taken, is released by NASA for Hubble's 15th anniversary April 25, 2005. The new Eagle Nebula image reveals a tall, dense tower of gas being sculpted by ultraviolet light from a group of massive, hot stars. During the 15 years Hubble has orbited the Earth, it has taken more than 700,000 photos of the cosmos.
Ask away. I love to teach. :-)
Thanks for posting these.
What word can really capture the awe of Him?
I meant every word, and the compliment to you and those who work on space projects is richly deserved.
Thanks for your confirmation that shuttle issues are the main reason Hubble won't be repaired. It's tragic, although I understand the reasons.
the sta-puft man!
Yes. Well said.
Great! Thanks. Do you know if there are any Hubble or other quality images of the region of space where the star (or is it star system) Lupus -- the wolf -- is located? Even a star map showing it's location would help.
beautiful! (understatement of the year)
thanks for posting
That's okay. Just take two bare wires, plug them in to an outlet, and touch them together so they spark with every other word and I will understand just fine. ;^)
Freeper RadioAstronomer says that some of the Hubble images he views are up to 500 mb in size!
Whoops. Some of the comercial/science space images I work with are up to that big. Typically, the Hubble's are not that big.
Sorry :-(
Here ya go. :-)

You should never ask that while I'm floating around here.

You'll never know how grateful I am for these links. My screen name is Wolfstar for a reason. :-)
:-)
The photo is beautiful, and I will keep it. Not as spectacular, of course, as photos of nebula or whole galaxies, but beautiful nevertheless. Now I need to learn to find it in the night sky.
Glad you liked. I will see if I can find some better ones tomorrow. :-)
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? .....yep
Hasn't Whirlpool owned by Ford?
