TexKat has learned that her son has been injured in Iraq. TexKat posts the daily Operation Phantom Fury Thread....she has left her workplace and has returned to her home to await details....
Thank all of you praying Freepers and please continue to pray for mine and for all others that are in harms way. My son took a licking and is lower back sore but still ticking, thank God.
I talked to him while he was still in the hospital in Baghdad (I guess that is where the hospital is.) and then he is scheduled to be flown back to camp later. God has spared him again.
From what I gather this was an ambush, yes near the Abu Ghraib area. He was 5th in the convoy and there was a van that was stopped on the side of the road. After a bit they noticed that the van began to move. The driver of the van pulled up alongside of the M1070 that my son was driving, smiled and then blew himself and everything around him up. My son was thrown from the truck and landed on his back. He stated that the heat from the fire from the truck penetrating on his face brought him to, and at that time he began to empty his rifle. The terrorist enemies were there shooting but were not in sight, evidently shooting from enclosed vacilities, just like a few weeks ago in the same area of Abu Ghraib.
The passenger soldier that was in the M1070 with my son broke his arm (his shooting arm)at the elbow I believe and was or will be flown to Germany. My son was a little shaken, but said that he was a bit calm now after talking with the chaplain, being interviewed by CIA, etc.
This incident today was said to be a new technique by the terrorist crazies.
Please keep SSG. Smith in your prayers as well as all of our sons and daughters that are giving so much for freedom for us and for the Iraqis.
May God bless all of you.
TexKat

Now they know almost immediately & often get email or to talk with them. what a blessing that is.
Isn't it amazing.
Freeper SERE_DOC sent me private mail regarding his son whose is in Iraq also. SERE_DOC also received a voicemail today that something happened but that his son was not hurt.
SERE_DOC thought that perhaps that our sons were in the same vicinity, but it turned out that his son was where the 2 soldiers were killed today.
However when I was on the phone with my son today while he was in the hospital he informed me that another soldier was brought in with blood all over him. This soldier informed my son of the 2 soldiers that were killed and the number of the injured.
Technology is very impressive and so is FreeRepublic.
Of course I will......we were so lucky...I thank God every day....
What a blessing from God this place is!
Thank you very much Chieftain. And thank you for your service. My son has great respect for the Marines. When they need escorts, Marines are his preference. He speaks from experience.
It could so easily have been otherwise, couldn't it? God was good to us!
(Romans chapter 10)
Prayers up for your son, and all our precious troops.
Thanks for the ping, mystery.
Thanks for the ping, Smartass!
Praying right now for TexKat's dear son!
Thank God he is alright!! I have been thinking about him all evening. *HUGS!*
Thank you dear Lord. I'm so glad he's safe. I gasped when I saw this thread.
I join in earnest and urgent prayer for your son!
Praise the Lord he is okay! We pray that God will bring healing to his mind and body. And that the Good Shepherd will lead him beside the still waters and restore his soul.
One prayer...one the way.
My son took a licking and is lower back sore but still ticking, thank God.
Great news. (that he wasn't badly hurt)
TexKat, Tell him this old Zoomy says that he WILL be careful!
I don't have the words for how proud I am of those young men and women. They are (IMO) doing the Lords work.
veeceeque,
Thank you so much for all the hard work you are doing over there day in and day out for us, your fellow Americans, and for the Iraqi people. You make us so incredibly proud! Our prayers are with you and your fellow soldiers. We love you guys!!!
Keep us Freepers informed about how you are doing over there, okay?
Thank God your son is OK. My prayers for him will continue...
Thanks for the good news update in #165. Thank God he's OK...
The Lord's work, indeed! Bringing freedom, truth, justice, and hope to people who are oppressed is from the heart of God, I believe. And I believe that God's hand is on each and every one of our brave military men and women over there. He loves them with a love that is higher and wider and deeper than we can comprehend!
I am just now seeing this thread. I am so happy for you that your son was spared. That is truly a miracle.
May G-d strengthen you to endure these times, as only He can do. May He command His angels charge over your son to guard him in all of his ways.
And once again, dear lady, thank you for your faithfulness in posting the threads every day. We love you.
