The Age of Autism: The Amish anomaly
The Washington Times ^ | April 18, 2005 | Dan Omstead

Posted on 04/20/2005 8:26:42 AM PDT by agsloss

Lancaster, PA, Apr. 18 (UPI) -- Part 1 of 2. Where are the autistic Amish? Here in Lancaster County, heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country, there should be well over 100 with some form of the disorder. I have come here to find them, but so far my mission has failed, and the very few I have identified raise some very interesting questions about some widely held views on autism. The mainstream scientific consensus says autism is a complex genetic disorder, one that has been around for millennia at roughly the same prevalence. That prevalence is now considered to be 1 in every 166 children born in the United States. Applying that model to Lancaster County, there ought to be 130 Amish men, women and children here with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Well over 100, in rough terms. Typically, half would harbor milder variants such as Asperger's Disorder or the catch-all Pervasive Development Disorder, Not Otherwise Specified -- PDD-NOS for short. So let's drop those from our calculation, even though "mild" is a relative term when it comes to autism. That means upwards of 50 Amish people of all ages should be living in Lancaster County with full-syndrome autism, the "classic autism"...

-snip-

I have identified three Amish residents of Lancaster County who apparently have full-syndrome autism, all of them children. A local woman told me there is one classroom with about 30 "special-needs" Amish children. In that classroom, there is one autistic Amish child. Another autistic Amish child does not go to school. The third is that woman's pre-school-age daughter. If there were more, she said, she would know it. What I learned about those children is the subject of the next column.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but some vaccine cultures were developed from aborted babies (got word of this from my sister who has several children).

How many of those with pertussis were already vaccinated? There is enough evidence, scientific as well as anecdotal, to question the safety and efficacy of vaccinations.
Why is this the only medical procedure over which I cannot exercise informed consent?

Those people who don't vaccinate are the reason we still have these diseases affecting our society.
We have possible cases of whooping cough right here where I live. The year 2005 and we stil have to deal with whooping cough...unbelievable.

When did inoculating children begin? That would be an interesting area to examine. Also, Amish don't inoculate their children, do they? They don't go to doctors. I've seen them in my nutritionist's office. They trust him for their health. Interesting.

"The mainstream scientific consensus says autism is a complex genetic disorder"

It is possible that the Amish gene pool is lacking the gene defect responsible for Autism.

Studies show that 56% of all statistics are wrong.

Anomoly? You may mean anomaly, but what do the spelling police know that can't be fund in a Webster's word book? Spell checkers are our friends.

Our little autist is very interested in Mozart: I don't think he watches a great deal of TV but I confess I don't see him that often.

------

Jab mercury is a classic iatrogenic accident-waiting-to-happen. I wouldn't use a mercury/thimerosal based vaccine on any small child.

No flaming from me, but playing devil's advocate, let me compare unvaccinated children who don't experience normal childhood illnesses to unneutured pets who do not propagate. The reason? Most pets are neutured. The comparison? Most children are vaccinated nowadays, which lessenes the spread of such illnesses.

Yes. See http://cogforlife.org/fetalvaccines.htm. The list of vaccines derived from abortion includes Varivax (Chickenpox-Merck), MMRII (Merck), Polio (Avenis-Pasteur).

"Everyone may think I am bizzare but I feel that many of the children who are diagnosed with Autism, actually have had too much input from tv and the brains developed differently. "

Whether autisim is caused by this overexposure to electronic stimulation, I don't know, but I am very sure that human beings weren't designed for this kind of constant TV, video games, music being pounded into our heads 24/7/365. I have tried to limit it with my children (wish I had limited it more when they were younger), and even now that they are grown I try to encourage them to have quiet times. It just seems to me that none of us can achieve a healthy balance in our lives with all that noise-- we need time to think our own thoughts, to daydream, etc..

They usually don't. My grandfather (Mennonite) wasn't certain if he should put lightning rods on his barn, since he didn't want to interfere with God's will if God should decide to strike his barn.

My 4 children were immunized for everything available, starting from infancy. No autism. This is also true of my sister's three children, and my brothers' 5 children. Of the two children in the most recent generation, both of them were fully immunized, and neither is autistic. That's 14 fully immunized people, a small sample, but without autism, nonetheless.

Google search lists too much to post: vaccines aborted autism.

http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&lr=&q=vaccines+aborted+autism

There is enough research to point to one conclusion, human cannibalism does a body bad. The culture of death has chained us to a cycle of dependency which requires murder. We'll have to find an alternative way to combat disease. The poisoning of our children is driving them mad...literally (considering the mercury they're injecting into babies).

Partial list of studies linking thimerosal to Autism

The Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics have issued a statement asserting that “the available scientific evidence has not shown thimerosal-containing vaccines to be harmful.” Their statement is false. Following are some of the scientific studies that demonstrate thimerosal, a mercury-containing substance that is used as a preservative, to be harmful and to be a highly probably causal factor in autism. Note that these studies are consistently ignored in the medical establishment’s publications claiming that there is no evidence for vaccine-caused autism.
