KANSAS CITY, Mo. --
Police said they arrested a man for spitting on Academy Award winning actress Jana Fonda during a book-signing stop in Kansas City Tuesday night.Fonda, 67, spoke at Unity Temple, in The Plaza shopping district, about her new book, "My Life So Far" and her new movie with Jennifer Lopez called "Monster-In-Law."
At about 9 p.m., police said a man who had been waiting in line for about 90 minutes, passed a book to Fonda and then spit a large amount of tobacco juice into her face.
Thy said the man then ran away and was taken into custody by off-duty officers, who were providing security for the event.
Fonda declined to prosecute the man for allegedly spitting in her face.
Michael A. Smith, 54, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, which is a city charge.
Ditto. I'd rather she was shunned.
Isn't this the same Jane Fonda who appeared on a Broadway stage recently talking about her v*gina? And, justshutupandtakeit believes she deserves to be treated like a lady?
My last question: Why was she ever allowed back in this country?
You aren't going to try and tell me that a Marine would spit in a woman's face are you?
Jane apologized for her actions and has admitted she was wrong. Short of a Time Machine becoming available so that she can go back and redo history that is about all one can ask for.
Spitting in her face didn't demean her it demeaned the Spitter and those supporting such foul actions.
Now conservatives can be accused of using the same nasty tricks as the Left. Congratulations.
And how in the world would you know what John O'Neill's reaction would be? Maybe he'd buy him his first free beer!
Sorry Doug. Cant agree with you on this one. She got less than what we got when we hit the ground and headed down the way at the airport. Try pee and S$%t, thats what was chucked at us.
What a dick! Understandable, but he's still a dick.
From watching O'Neill one can easily see that he is a southern gentleman who would never support actions so crude and pointless. It takes only a little acuity to make such a determination.
Just a few words from a foreigner residing in US.
I dont know maybe its just a cultural thing, but I come from a place where women are not spit on their faces with a majority of people lustily cheering such actions, its just morally reprehensible to many civilized people.
I guess most of you wouldnt want someone to do that to your mom or sis afterall..
It was assault if Jane was inclined to take him to court.
that's disgusting.
i can't stand jane.
but when you do this stuff, you stoop to the level of the thugs that hound david horowitz and ann coulter.
You don't have to reside in the U.S. if you don't want to. It's a choice. And you don't have to participate on FR, either, if you don't like our convictions. But, my, you certainly are adept at insults, aren't you?
LoL. Sounds like a biological weapon though.
Contrary to the impression you could easily get from the moron cheerleaders such an action would normally be roundly condemned by the vast majority of Americans. We have had a number of FReepers lose their minds the last couple of months and they haven't found them yet.
Perhaps you need to look up the meaning of the term "insult" if you believe that comment contained ANYTHING in it that was insulting.
Apparently the Truth is very insulting to the moron cheerleaders.
I agree wholeheartedly that he most certainly is a gentleman. Hard to imagine what he'd do if he met her personally. I didn't think you had the right to assume what he would or wouldn't do. I dare guess, neither of us knows John O'Neill personally.
You may be correct that he wouldn't spit.
(That's not to say that most VN wets wouldn't though, if they had the chance and I'd stand in applause!
....That would have been powerful....
Or at least pathetic.
It was Hanoi Jane..... not your average run of the mill left winger.
Apparently, DU misses you very much...
