KANSAS CITY, Mo. --
Police said they arrested a man for spitting on Academy Award winning actress Jana Fonda during a book-signing stop in Kansas City Tuesday night.Fonda, 67, spoke at Unity Temple, in The Plaza shopping district, about her new book, "My Life So Far" and her new movie with Jennifer Lopez called "Monster-In-Law."
At about 9 p.m., police said a man who had been waiting in line for about 90 minutes, passed a book to Fonda and then spit a large amount of tobacco juice into her face.
Thy said the man then ran away and was taken into custody by off-duty officers, who were providing security for the event.
Fonda declined to prosecute the man for allegedly spitting in her face.
Michael A. Smith, 54, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, which is a city charge.
Even lower than that is kids/punks spitting on returning Soldiers and calling them baby killers (as inspired by Hanoi Jane and her rabble).
I'd love to ask Janecong how it feels to be loathed in America...perhaps Libs like her would think twice about denegrating soldiers once she got a face full of it herself (still not holding my breath).
Given the madness which has overtaken FR the last couple of mouths it is not surprising to find some here adopting the tactics of our brainless enemies and bragging about it.
Jane didn't spit on any soldiers nor did very many others but it sounds good. Nor did she attack soldiers personally. Having wrong opinions should not make Americans subject to attacks by morons.
Careful, your pinkness is showing......step aside and let those with a stronger stomach for battling the dark side take over. Sometimes (cultural) war gets ugly.
Oh, the humanity!!!!
"Lucky dude...coulda been charged with "assault by bodily fluids"."
Poo, no d'zeaze can live in tabacky juice!
So I mistyped a word. But it should be clear that demonstrating good manners, and properly treating women is the way conservatives were taught to act. Christians also.
If you believe spitting on people is a way to win the "cultural" wars your defeat will teach you otherwise. I know of no real man who would spit on a woman. That is right out of the ACT UP playbook. Too bad Jane didn't have a bodyguard to kick this idiot's @$$.

My understanding is that she called the soldiers babykillers.
She cooperated with the N.Vietnamese in getting out their propaganda. However, how was that much different that working with Walter Cronkit the Father Knows Best of Network News? Or talking to a NY Times reporter?
This attack was not acceptable to those with manners or conservative principles. Now if it were Kerry it MIGHT be a little different.
John O'Neill would not commend this creep's actions.
Just for the record -- I was one of those who protested the war in Vietnam simply because I thought it was a bad idea. But contrary to the stereotype of protesters at the time, I and many others did not vilify our soldiers. Personally, I felt considerable respect and admiration for them -- they made enormous sacrifices in very difficult situations -- and then they had to endure the accusations perpetrated by Jane and her ilk. I mentioned earlier a friend of mine who died fairly recently at a relatively young age -- he told me some real horror stories about his experiences during the war. He was never the same following the war, and I'm reasonably sure that the horror of that war, coupled with the vilification he suffered when he came home, caused or in some way contributed to his early death.
So I can emphathise with those who feel the man was justified in spitting on Jane Fonda -- I think if I were in their position I would feel the same way. I only made my suggestion about boycotting Miz Fondle and her products as a way of chaneling our anger into something that might be more constructive and effective.
By your diatribe against this guy who was exercising his "freedom of expression", I think you feel sorry for Janecong.
Her freedom of expression was to sit on the ememy's guns, this guy's was to spit in her face....not my thing, but hey, different strokes....bet he's no anti-christian, liberal monster as you are trying to make him out to be.
Hey, were you as offended by Demo-protestors spitting on Republicans in NYC last year? If so, I didn't see your outrage on FR. p.s. Perhaps you can sign up as a bodyguard for her appearance on 4/24/95 at the book stores in Santa Cruz, CA if you want to protect her so much.
She cooperated with the N.Vietnamese in getting out their propaganda...

For many people it was a lot more than that. And in their eyes, her actions were tantamount to treason.
She might be forgiven if she had truly apologized, but she won't even do that. I heard her alleged "apology" -- I heard the word "regret" -- I didn't hear "sorry" or anything close to that. And as someone else said, having regrets is almost like the thief who "regrets" his crime -- he regrets not the crime, but being caught.
"Smith, a Vietnam veteran, told The Kansas City Star on Wednesday that Fonda was a "traitor'' and that her protests against the war were unforgivable. He said he normally does not chew tobacco but did so Tuesday solely to spit juice on the actress."
"I consider it a debt of honor,'' he told The Star for a story on its Web site, www.kansascity.com. "She spit in our faces for 37 years. It was absolutely worth it. There are a lot of veterans who would love to do what I did."
Frankly, I consider Mr. Smith a "real" man. More cahones than many on the FR, apparently.
I read about this man on a Marine Corps website. Why did he do it? Well, since his age is 54...he may well be a Vietnam Vet...don't know any Nam vets that like Jane Fonda. He stepped up to the plate and did what hundreds of other people would like to do. Why not give him a medal? GBudd USMC 1966-1972 Vietnam 1967-1970
This man's sentence should be free beer at any VFW for a year. How funny and great to hear. I hope someone got it on tape.

I'm willing to bet this guy will be more than welcome at any VFW or American Legion post. In fact, I know the honcho at my neighborhood AL post -- think I'll make the suggestion.
Good idea!
They don't have the pics I was hoping to see. Where's the spit?
[[This is terrible. When Conservatives stoop to such despicable tactics that our enemies would use then we are no better than them and diminish ourselves and our cause.]]
How do you know that this vet was a conservative? I know plenty of liberal vets that hate both Hanoi Jane Fonda and Hanoi John Kerry. This man is a hero in my eyes, whether is is a liberal or a conservative!
Sounds like it to me, too.
[[On November 21, 1970 she told a University of Michigan audience of some two thousand students, "If you understood what communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees that we would some day become communist."
At Duke University in North Carolina she repeated what she had said in Michigan, adding "I, a socialist, think that we should strive toward a socialist society, all the way to communism." ]]
Are you sure you are not Peter Fonda (or maybe Fonda Peter) in cognito????
