at least don't run away, otherwise you might be mistaken for a liberal.
Indeed, my thoughts exactly... If he had the guts to do this he should have stood there and read a litany of complaints to her out-loud...
That would have surely sealed the act as a form of protest and not assault...

I am one of those VN combat vets who got spit on
Late Aug. 1969
I am sick and tired of the media maligning VN vets for the last 40 yrs and certainly have no love for Fonda,Jane or a thousand other draft dodgers, and anti war professors, protesters, conscientious objectors, movie stars, rock stars, lefty preachers,or any of those on the left who called us baby killers..not to mention those on the right who called us losers, or leeches on the govt. ala David Stockman.
Spitting on Fonda was stupid..
Like the poster said...I don't condone it..but I understand it.
Had the book signing been protested by a bunch of disabled vets from all our wars...that would have symbol even Jane Fonda
may have understood..even if the lefty media refused to cover it..

.. but i digress to the spitting level and I don't approve of that at all...
THAT, in and of itself, is a liberalistic reaction and not worthy of repeat...

Exactly! This guy doesn't need our approval, since this (unlike the pie&salad dressing incidents) was probably not political.
This seems like a very personal, very red state response to an affront, and I hope he doesn't get into too much trouble for it.

I wouldn't really urinate on someone's grave. And I certainly wouldn't spit in someone's face. All hat and no cattle. I would have no problem of urinating on Hitler's grave, spitting in Julius and Ethel Rosenberg's face, or worse to someone who caused the death of my child. Never say never. You sound like Dukakis and what he would do if someone raped his wife.
I get a little tired of those who sit in the comfort of their well protected, secure homes and preach on how others should act on the battlefield as a soldier or on the streets as a policeman. Jane Fonda evokes visceral reactions from many of us, who recall vividly what she did during the Vietnam era. If you understand the emotional aspect of this, you will understand why many of us are not upset by the rather innocuous gesture of spitting on someone whom we consider to be a traitor.

These Hanoi Jane types of pictures were used as PSYOP material by the NVA and was used to decrease 1) troop morale and 2) erode public support for the war at home. (The Leftists of course did not support the war against the commies in the first place)
To the Leftists, as a "bonus" to their deviant cause, many US POWs may have been killed or spent unnecessarily longer periods of internment due to the effects of material like this artfully used by Communists abroad and their liberal sypathizers at "home."
Jane Fonda should have been prosecuted, in a most severe manner, for treason.

We need to Freep this b.tch when she comes to town with her ridiculous book signings.
Do we have a schedule of her book tours? I personallly would love to Freep her and I am sure many Vietnam Vets would be right there. It would be great if, instead of a lot of posters we could get large blow-up pictures of her over there and some pictures of the POW's.
My sign would say," Apology? We don't need no stinkin' apologies!"....and
"Still making money over dead POW's, Jane?"

If Nixon hadn't caved into the minority anti-war crowd

Hanoi Jane AND Hanoi Kerry

Keep in mind that Nixon was directly involved in Viet Nam,

About VietnamThe Vietnam war was the longest in our nation's history.
1st American advisor was killed on June 08, 1956,
and the last casualties in connection with the war occurred on May 15, 1975, during the Mayaquez incident. Approximately 2.7 million Americans served in the war zone; 300,000 were wounded and approximately 75,000 permanently disabled. Officially there are still 1,991 Americans unaccounted for from SE Asia.
Vietnam was a savage, in your face war where death could and did strike from anywhere with absolutely no warning. The brave young men and women who fought that war paid an awful price of blood, pain and suffering. As it is said: "ALL GAVE SOME ... SOME GAVE ALL"
The Vietnam war was not lost on the battlefield. No American force in ANY other conflict fought with more determination or sheer courage than the Vietnam Veteran. For the first time in our history America sent it's young men and women into a war run by inept politicians who had no grasp of military strategies and no moral will to win. They were led by "top brass" who were concerned mainly with furthering their own careers, most neither understood the nature of the war nor had a clue about the impossible mission with which they'd tasked their soldiers. And the war was reported by a self serving Media who penned stories filled with inaccuracies, deliberate omissions, biased presentations and blatant distorted interpretations because they were more interested in a story than the truth! It can be debated that we should never have fought that war. It can also be argued that the young Americans who fought so courageously, never losing a single major battle, helped in a huge way to WIN THE COLD WAR.

You seem to be buying the press account about running away. Perhaps he just walked away after wating in line 90 minutes just to meet her. Here is the account:
At about 9 p.m., police said a man who had been waiting in line for about 90 minutes, passed a book to Fonda and then spit a large amount of tobacco juice into her face.
Thy said the man then ran away and was taken into custody by off-duty officers, who were providing security for the event.
