Republican Ohio Sen. George Voinovich has told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that he is "not comfortable" voting for the nomination of John Bolton to be the U.S. Ambassodor to the United Nations.
Voinovich suggested that the committee delay a vote on the nomination that would send Bolton's name to the Senate Floor for a full Senate vote.
I have deep respect for my fellow conservatives and Republicans from Ohio but Voinovich needs to be punished and punished hard for this back stabbing bs maneuver.
Bolton committee report: Today.
Majority Chairman, Sen. Lugar tried and tried and tried to get Bolton voted out (i.e. in support) of committee and onto the floor of the senate but, dems with sKerry, Biden, Sarbanes, Boxer, Dodd and others kept interrupting and bloviating Lugar with tall tells of Bolton's behavior with subordinates. All heresay with no evidence presented. Lugar so much told the dem's they were stalling and his mind was made up. Lugar would say, "It's time to vote 'yea' or 'nay'". Lugar tried to get them (democrats) to vote but, each time the dems would bloviate some more. Then, Sen. Voinovich (R) buckled. Voinovich said he's 'not comfortable' with the issues raised by the dems that perhaps what they are saying may need to be looked into. That's when the dam burst. The dems knew (once again) they had won the day and gotten into the minds of the wafflers. Lugar had no choice - Bolton may not get the 10 votes and out of committee.
Once again, libs are masters at stall tactics, delay, delay delay. Just given enough time, they can get a repub. to cave. No more no less.
The democrats will spend the next 2 weeks digging and digging dirt on Bolton and present an 'Anita Hill' defense.
That's who they are and what they do. It's 'Get Bush' at all cost.
Remember Cheerleader Kay sold out on one of Bush's few true conservative nominees for judge. Keep that in mind when she runs for governor.
I think it is terrible that he waited until the last minute -- he does need punished. My Dad never did trust him and as I told his office when I called -- my Dad was right!
Note to Ohioians: Don't elect someone from Cleveland as your Senator!
Yes, Voinovich was Cleveland mayor in the '80s. I actually thought he was a pretty decent mayor at the time, but considering other Cleveland mayors, that's not saying too much.
Apparently someone forgot to send Mark Steyn's excellent article to Voinovich so V could see how asinine his vote was.
This could be a break for frist. Frist is now off track for 2008. To get back on track he could do something to publically kick voinovich's ass. This is really frustrating. Imagine we get chafee in line an now this butt head pulls this crap...........!!!!!!!
Hopefully Blackwell is doing what he needs to do to set him self up for the state house. It would be a shame to see the Taft folks bolt and vote the D's into office as happened in Kansas.
Not surprising since he's a gun grabbing RINO.
Voinovich...........the new Daschle. Eagles UP.
But the gop encouraged conservatives to vote the party line and "reform" the party from within.
We get the government we deserve if we embrace the "party before principle" approach.
The gop is the "Al Davis party"
"Just win baby."
Just another poster boy for term limits..!
