GOP Sen. Voinovich Opposes Bolton Nomination
Human Events Online ^ | April 19, 2005 | Chris Field

Republican Ohio Sen. George Voinovich has told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that he is "not comfortable" voting for the nomination of John Bolton to be the U.S. Ambassodor to the United Nations.

Voinovich suggested that the committee delay a vote on the nomination that would send Bolton's name to the Senate Floor for a full Senate vote.

I am so pissed right now, Voinovich stabbed us in the back and now the Dems are controlling the flipping debate.

Watch it, pal. We have real Pubbies, but we need a few election cycles to get things straightened out. My home county - the fastest growing in the state - went for W 72%-28% and was the last to report on election night. Watch out for future conservatives from Ohio including Ken Blackwell (Sec. of State and hero of election night, now running for Governor) and Rob Portman, soon to be US Trade Rep. and eventually Senator. We're working on the problem. He's a leftover from Cleveland, where the Rebublicans are about as reliable as Bloomberg in NYC.

What happened was the Dims lead by Biden told a bunch of tall stories about the nominee. Voinovich said he was uncomfortable not investigating. Of course when these lies are shot down, more lies will be raised and one days the GOP must force the vote. They should have forced it in 10 minutes today. They chair had the votes and he should not have let the Dims talk.

What is it with these Midwest states? I mean, I'm in TX, so we throw them up as Right as they come (mostly) and I'm apparently out of touch with the Midwest. How is it that we have all these Red states with such whimpy Senators? And BTW, how's Nelson (NE) keep getting reelected???

Committee Chairman Lugar (R.-Ind.) has agreed to postpone the vote until after the Senate's recess.

If he gets out of committee, he's in. That is party line from what I understand.

The GOP has to start the campaign again because they stopped after the election. The democrats never did (and never do) stop campaigning.

Voynovich needs to be stripped of every committee post and every Republican privilege and support he's got. Let him go over to the other party, how much more of a traitor could he be?

Thank you for asserting the right to know my mind better than I.

Any other foolish comment you'd like to address toward me?

Bolton will not allow the UN to pull the wool over his eyes, and now he is being sacrificed to please the UN bootlickers.

Disgusting behavior from a fellow Republican.

His Phone Number is BUSY! What a jerk! So glad I now live in Oklahoma instead of Ohio where I grew up! We have sent two Conservative Senators in Inhofe and Coburn to D.C. No wonder my two Senators get frustrated at the GOP in the Senate! Never did like Voinivich!
