Ratzinger has written extensively on this "culture wars" theme. He does so from a European vantage point, but with globalization, it is an issue for everyone, even in the Third World. The exact way these culture wars play out differs in Europe and the United States and Latin America and Africa, but the principles are the same and Ratzinger has thought about them long and hard. I agree with that. but, given his age, I just think Ratzinger's focus is going to be on the Church, and not on the wider world. Clearly the cardinals wanted a transitional papacy.
Does Ratzinger speak English?

It is being reported that Ratzinger is fluent in both English and Italian. The omission would seem to be Spanish, not English.

Clearly the cardinals wanted a transitional papacy.Does Ratzinger speak English?. "Culture wars" are central to the Church=-false understanding of freedom as "doing what you please"; culture of death etc.--it's as much inside the Church as outside--the Church is in the world. Yes, he speaks English.

Does Ratzinger speak English? EWTN showed excerpts today from an (English) interview they did with Ratzinger a year or two ago.
He speaks English better than JPII, and with a German accent, of course. IOW, someone as linguistically challenged as I could understand what he was saying.

Does Ratzinger speak English?Fluently. Also Italian, French and of course German. He's also in very good health, in spite of his age.
