CARDINAL WHO WARNED OF 'ANTICHRIST' RISES IN BETTING ODDS
Though Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi is the odds-on favorite to be the next pope, global betting parlors are reporting an influx of bets on Cardinal Giacomo Biffi.
"From what I can see here, there's been a lot of wagers on Biffi," Mani Sanders of Pinnacle Sports, an online gambling service based on the resort island in the Netherlands Antilles, told the Providence Journal.
Cardinal Biffi, emeritus bishop of the archdiocese of Bologna, was recently listed as a 125-to-1 long shot to succeed John Paul II.
But does Pinnacle know something we don't?
The paper reports that as an influx of "bets were placed on Biffi in the past several days, the odds on the 76-year-old Italian had dropped to 50 to 1 by Wednesday."
If Biffi does win, it will be a sign that the Church leaders are trending more conservative.
Biffi is strongly anti-Masonic. He was quoted as saying Catholic churches should ban Mozart's music, as the composer was a Mason. The Church and the Masonic movement have long had an antagonistic relationship.
In recent years Biffi stirred controversy by saying Italy should "protect its national identity" and stop the avalanche of Muslim immigrants.
In 2000, Biffi predicted that "Europe will either become Christian again or it will become Muslim." He added ominously., "The vast majority of Muslims are coming here determined to remain outside our humanity."
That same year Biffi also said that he believed the Antichrist was alive and would soon rise to prominence.
Biffi told a conference meeting in Bologna that the Antichrist was a prominent philanthropist who advocated causes like human rights, the environment and ecumenicism.
Biffi said that this man who he never identified had a "fascinating personality" and espoused causes like vegetarianism, pacifism, environmentalism and animal rights.
Biffi added that this Antichrist would be a Bible expert who would discard its truths to prosletyze for "vague and fashionable spiritual values."

>Blessed, is this Biblical? In discussions with eyespysomething on this topic, I've theorized that this is true just from anecdotal evidence through history. Do you have sources I could go to for this information?<
I have heard this postulated by several Bible teachers over the years, one of which was excellent at explaining all of the different interpretations of Revelation.I can not give you a specific Bible verse but we know Satan is not omnipotent and we know only God knows the future. We all so know that the signs of the end times have been present to different degrees since Jesus's resurrection.Absent scripture to refute the possibility I believe it to be a logical conclusion.

I can certainly respect your opinion. I just don't see "Rapture" as being theologically or eschatologically sound.

It could be the homosexuals who rein in the Anti-Christ, and the anti-Christ movement, and the Beast.
They are proud, they got money, they trump the liberal causes.

And the homosexuals and feminist will be his pawns.
Homosexuality and feminism is purely demonic and satanic.

Did anyone else read about a list of Popes predicted somewhere hundreds of years ago? I heard there were only 2 left.
Isnt it weird the number of predictions from different sources that are all about the end of the world around 2012 (the mayan calendar ends then) The goofballs who talk about planet X (Nibiru) etc etc...

"8. He will try to change the calendar, perhaps to define a new era, related to himself [Daniel 7:25]" The current rage in academic circles is to replace "BC" and "AD" with "BCE" and "CE" (Common Era) for our calendar years, anything to avoid a reference to God.
It's only a tiny stretch for an unknown politician to now get Europe to make such a switch, officially.

Here's another reference to the changing of the calendar.
To: Esther Ruth
"9. He will try to change the laws, perhaps to gain an advantage for his new kingdom and era [Dan 7:25] ... 14. He will show no regard for the religion of his ancestors [Daniel 11:37]"
There are only 3 "new" kingdoms at play in the world right now: the new EU, China, and the Greater Islamic World.

I was thinking that he was referring to Soros, but now I am beginning to wonder if he fits all the criteria.I doubt Soros would know a Bible if it bit him in the tachat.
You know, when I was in the Catholic Church, "antichrist" speculation was considered a purely Protestant occupation. I had the distinct impression that it was (like creationism and Biblical inerrency) "un-Catholic." So what's happened to change things?
