The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Threat Matrix - Daily Terrorism Threat
Details show extent of terror plot against U.S.
Full Story

We now know more about an alleged attack that triggered an increased national threat level last summer.

That's when U.S. officials said they had uncovered a plot targeting financial institutions. The plot involved bombs, banks and British nationals.

The detail was startling, the targets enormous. They included financial buildings in Washington, New York and New Jersey.

More Blogger jihadi sites

These came via the ansar_jehad mailing list.
I found this first one very interesting, considering the dalel stuff from a long time ago. (at least I think that was the name)

Just an FYI - there are links to BBs that I personally haven't seen before on these pages. (Doesn't mean much though, I'm a bit slow, so ya'll have probably seen these sites before.)

ANDIZHAN, Uzbekistan, May 15 (Reuters) - Uzbek soldiers fired into a crowd, including women, children and their own police comrades begging them not to shoot, when they crushed an uprising in the town of Andizhan, witnesses said on Sunday.

Soldiers later moved in among "literally hundreds" of bodies, finishing off some of the wounded with a single bullet, said one witness to Friday's killings outside School No. 15

Interesting comments. I would say then that the islamic custom of cutting off a hand for various offenses would then take on a greater significance than just the loss of that person's specific abilities relative to that one hand. Loss of either hand would force that person to perform hygiene activities with the same hand they handle food with, not to mention the koran (is that desecration?).

Oh that is sad Right_Handed_Writer.

Yep, they are very ugly bugs.

I try to plant a variety of trees and flowers; so that if one type develops problems; at least some will still be standing and healthy.

It's a fine mess they've created, and not one that's going to be easily repaired. They've provoked ME relations and human deaths have occurred from the resulting outrage.

Unfortunately most of our "major media" sources have sunk to the point where they are no more reliable or ethical than the National Enquirer, but without the Enquirer's capacity to entertain.

I don't think many people outside this country (and certainly not in the ME, where awareness of other cultures is actively discouraged) are fully aware of the depths to which our media have sunk.

Lately, the National Inquirer is more reliable and truthful. At least who is cheating on who is right.

Does anyone remember last summer the FBI/Homeland Security let it be known that an attack of some sort was planned for 5/11/04 but had either been thwarted or abandoned? I think the story was from June or July.

Suspect in Beslan School Siege Goes on Trial (Russia - 5/17/05)

Sole militant survivor accused of raid that killed 330 hostages

VLADIKAVKAZ, Russia - The sole known survivor from the militant group that seized a school last September in the southern Russian town of Beslan, in a raid that left more than 330 hostages dead, went on trial Tuesday in a courtroom packed with his accusers.

Nur-Pashi Kulayev, who faces terrorism, murder and other charges, reportedly has confessed to participating in the Sept. 1-3 raid on School No. 1 but has insisted that he killed no one....

What most of the articles on this "school siege" fail to mention is that the "hostages" were mainly innocent children. They also leave out the pertinent fact that the murders who perpertrated this mass murder were Muslim Terrorists.

Karzai warns heavy-handed US troops as riots spread

By Nick Meo in Kabul
16 May 2005

President Hamid Karzai insisted the Kabul government will veto US military operations after a week of hugely destructive anti-American rioting left Afghan cities and towns in flames and hospitals overflowing with casualties.

The Afghan leader, installed with Washington's support in 2001 and often derided as an American puppet, seemed to be bowing to a growing mood of popular anger with American military tactics and uneasiness over how long bases will remain on Afghan soil.

He promised to correct "mistakes" made by US forces, especially intrusive searches of village homes by American troops in areas where the Taliban insurgency continues.

Searching homes for weapons is a highly contentious issue in the southern and eastern Pushtun tribal areas, especially when soldiers barge into womens' quarters, a deeply insulting act in tribal culture. The military has tried to soothe anger, training female soldiers to search.

Afghans also complain that innocent villagers are frequently arrested and taken to Guantanamo Bay or the interrogation centre north of Kabul at Bagram if they are unlucky enough to be in the vicinity of attacks on US soldiers or if they are the victim of faulty intelligence.

Last year, Mr Karzai appealed to the US military to rethink their tactics. But he is now demanding control of military activities. He said: "We will allow or not allow operations to be conducted."

The President also called for the return of hundreds of Afghan prisoners held at Guantanamo, another major friction point, and promised to raise the issue with President George Bush when the two leaders meet in Washington this month. But he stressed the importance of the relationship with America which has underpinned his government.

"We know that without the strategic partnership with America, Afghanistan would not make it as a sovereign, independent nation," Mr Karzai said.

The last week has seen the worst street violence in Afghanistan since the fall of the Taliban. Disturbances began in the eastern city of Jalalabad and then spread to smaller cities in the east and north and the capital Kabul. Sixteen died, more than 100 were injured, and millions of dollars worth of damage was done to offices and equipment of Western aid agencies which were targeted by rioters.

The riots were set off by claims in a US magazine that a Koran was desecrated by being left on a toilet at Guantanamo. Mr Karzai said the flames were fanned by "outside elements", usuall taken to refer to Pakistani intelligence.

One additional point about using the left hand for "personal hygiene". The prescribed punishment for theft under Sharia law is amputation of the right hand. That leaves the thief with one hand for "hygiene" and eating.

I don't think many people outside this country (and certainly not in the ME, where awareness of other cultures is actively discouraged) are fully aware of the depths to which our media have sunk.

This is the reason I found FR and TM. We can't count on the MSM to tell us the truth (without editorial slant) or to give us more of the type of news that actually matters to Americans (NOT entertainment news). I'll have no trust of those who spin the news toward their agenda until they themselves are tossed.

Yep, and if you read the cover, you pretty much know the whole inside of it and don't have to spend a penny buying it. Supporting liberal newspapers via subscription or daily sales gives them more ammunition for attacking the very things we hold dear (and glorifying Bill, Hillary and the Chappaquidick swimmer).
