IRVINGTON, N.J. -- One man shot another man Monday morning and then fled in a vehicle with a woman and her 4-year-old daughter, authorities said. A statewide alert was being issued.
The wounded man was not likely to die, police Director Michael Damiano said.
He said the shooting happened shortly after 7 a.m., and that the suspected shooter may be related to the child.
Information for an Amber Alert, sent to broadcasters and placed on highway message signs when a child is abducted, was being compiled, Damiano and state police said. No description of the vehicle was immediately available, they said.
Woman and infant is in the passanger seat of the honda
Thanks. It looks like the car is in Phillipsburg in a townhouse area.
4 or 5 helicopters are in a flight path around the scene.
All roads in and out of development are blocked by police.
Oh great!
Thank you!
Bridge to PA is shut down.
Condo area is the Overlook Complex.
The Honda is backed into a driveway in front of one townhouse. There are about 20 police officers taking cover about 20 yards from the car.
The car is now moving forward.
It's stopped again in a parking space and police are moving in closer, but still keeping some distance.
Why are the officers running away?
The police are behind cars and surrounding the Honda. They aren't running away, but they are giving the suspect some breathing room.
Lol! I make it a rule to answer politely and factually no matter what I think of the question. :) (Didn't notice it was also addressed to SP2bF.)
CBS is reporting the guy in the Honda is talking to police via cell phone.
That makes sense. I hope a sniper gets him before he hurts that baby.
The grandfather he shot this morning is going to live, thank goodness.
You are polite by your nature, not a rule ;)
After 50+ years of observation, I suspect that is true in most cases. :)
Irvington Police are now saying that Almutha has abducted the baby before.
The grandfather was at the apartment this morning because he was trying to protect Jada. They were expecting problems from Almutha.
What a sweet face! Hardly more than a baby herself. Too bad she lives in Irvington instead of PA, where we have legal firearms and 911 is what you call for cleanup.
You are even tempting me with that sales pitch!
