The Ice Queen (A Day of 'Astonishing Put Downs' for Camilla Parker Bowles)
News of the World UK ^ | 4.10.05 | Clive Goodman

Queen Elizabeth II delivered some extraordinary wedding day snubs to Prince Charles and his bride Camilla Parker Bowles yesterday. Her gloomy Majesty barely cracked a smile throughout the day. She never spoke to her new daughter in law and wouldn't even look at her.

At one point, the Queen frostily turned her back on Camilla during the blessing of the couples marriage.

But the worst moments for the new Duchess of Cornwall came when it was time to take the traditional family photos on the steps of St. George's Chapel. Royal aides had expected the Queen and Prince Phillp to spend at least five minutes posing with the newlyweds.

But the queen barely managed to spare 52 seconds to stand alongside the happy couple. She did not say a word to Camilla, now the country's second highest ranking royal, but spoke to her son.

Queen: 'That all went rather well.' Charles: 'Yes.' Queen: 'We are leaving now.' Charles: 'Oh, I really want a picture of us all.'

The Queen then moved quickly to stand further away from her new daughter in law, stepping around her to stand beside Charles. It was a day of astonishing put downs for Camilla, 57, delivered by her mother in law.

One observer told us: 'If the Queen had been any quicker, the pictures would have to been done on a speed camera. She looked grumpy and frosty to the bitter end.'

There were mutterings among the female guests as the Queen broke the golden rule of weddings--upstaging the bride by wearing white. Her off white outfit was almost exactly the same color Camilla had chosen for her civil wedding.

One guest said: 'She didn't join in on any of the prayers or hymms, she looked miserable.' Then, as the congregation sang 'Love Divine,' she lowered her order of service and turned her back on Camilla--even Prince Phillip was forced to shoot her a look!

One family friend told us: 'It was tough on Camilla. It wouldn't have killed the Queen to say well done. Nobody expected her to throw her arms around the woman but she was very cold to her.'

Later, things appeared to have warmed as the Queen unexpectedly made a speech at the reception--but later than cracked a joke at Camilla's expense, appearing to compare her to a horse.

To laughter from the guests in the State Apartments, she told the newlyweds, 'Welcome to the winners enclosure!' Seconds earlier, she had told the crowd that she had an important annoucement to make and then declared who won the Grand National Horse Race.

And another thing, IF you have a "love of your life" still around, why are you taking vows befoe God to love another? Diana went rzy for a while from the humilation and rejection. Trying to do herself harm, finally getting an eating disorder. All calls for help - when what she really wanted was his love.

She finally started doing for the goose what the gander did - which I don't think was right, but it served its purpose.

She was told"princes" don't get divorced. But she finally got control back of her life she demanded a divorce and found another man. Then she was killed.

It's too bad that Charles and Camilla weren't allowed to marry 24 years ago.

From what I heard, they had an affair and went their separate ways (read: he moved on to greener pastures and the Crown wants a virgin bride, which was no longer possible for Camilla Shand). She married Mr. P-B but Charles decided he still wanted to use her so they had an adulterous affair, and later, he used his virgin princess to produce two heirs.

The saddest part of this to me is that Diana discovered before the wedding that he was still using Camilla, but Diana went ahead with the marriage. I don't know if this is true but it has the ring of truth to it: I saw one report that Diana confronted him about Camilla and Charles said, "I'm not going to be the only Prince of Wales not to have a mistress." Hmmmm. Even though I think the chances of him committing adultery at this point are much less than when he married Diana, I wonder how Camilla might feel about that statement now.

I thought she had a porcupine nested in her hair.

Yes, now that you mention it, it looked like a tangle of porcupine quills as well.
I wonder if birds use those to make nests?
(AFTER the porcupine sheds them, of course. I imagine a porcupine would get pretty nasty if a bird tried to steal its quills while they were still attached.)

A courtesan (no matter for how many generations) will never be Queen of England.

They are so scared of Diana, there was no kiss to seal the wedding vows yesterday because they are so afraid of public reactions.

One guest said: 'She didn't join in on any of the prayers or hymms, she looked miserable.'

That is most definitely not true. I saw most of it on TV, (while I was channel surfing and happened upon the wedding) and I distinctly saw the queen singing along with one of the hymns, by heart, without following along in the book like everybody else. I thought it odd that she wore white, but she also wore black gloves. It doesn't really matter if it was almost the same as Camilla's outfit for the civil ceremony, because she didn't attend the civil ceremony, and Camilla's wedding dress was grayish blue.

If anybody looked miserable, it was Camilla (although I loved her dress). She kept on fidgeting and couldn't keep her hands still, and looked very uncomfortable while they were sitting down. Charles had to find her place in her book for her (something they were reading from) and had to tell her to stand up at one point. Charles looked very relaxed, as did the queen and Prince Philip.

It's coming clear now that I look at it as an episode of Seinfeld.

Sounds like the Queen needs sone 'Serenity Now!' instead of getting up every day knowing she has to stay alive.

Listen, I'm not defending her, but the presstitutes can be down loathsome rude! So what if she was not fortunate to be born a beauty, even homely people deserve some happiness. Thank goodness, God is not a particular of person!! <---Whew....I dodged that one!

IMO it would have been difficult for Camilla to have picked two worse hats. Maybe time will prove that she has an endless appetite for embarrassing herself with these concoctions. The one she wore that was the same color as her hair -- when I first saw it I thought the wind had blown her hair amuck and that it was so heavily hair sprayed that it wouldn't bend. The other one with the bendy arrows on top that bobbled -- well, all I could think of was The Cat in the Hat.

Oh, hats have always be in. Poor Diana and Sarah were forced to wear them all of the time. Both of those girls got a raw deal. Sarah and her husband, Prince Andrew, were in love; but the Queen ruined that when she would not allow Sarah to live near where he was based. The Queen made another horrid mistake when she forced Charles to marry Diana, whom he did not love. He ruined her life and that part of his own life. Now he has the woman he has always loved. Poor Diana, at least she is in heaven with God. She is at peace. The Queen has just what she deserves.

I thought the Queen could have posed for pictures a bit longer.

It was bordering on a transparent slap in the face to give less than 60 seconds to the formal tradtional wedding photo pose.

Personally I think she looks pretty damn good for a 57 yr old woman.

I agree!

Considering how insignificant the Queen is these days, as well as her entire family, to the overall scheme of things in the running of the "Empire" she really does take her role rather seriously. It's almost comical.

I always got the feeling that Charles was forced into marrying Diana.

That family was in dire need of some fresh DNA. That was the only reason for her marriage to Charles.

Isn't the Queen still one of the richest people in the world as the only billionairess? (Mostly base on real estate holdings now a days)
