The Ice Queen (A Day of 'Astonishing Put Downs' for Camilla Parker Bowles)
News of the World UK ^ | 4.10.05 | Clive Goodman

Queen Elizabeth II delivered some extraordinary wedding day snubs to Prince Charles and his bride Camilla Parker Bowles yesterday. Her gloomy Majesty barely cracked a smile throughout the day. She never spoke to her new daughter in law and wouldn't even look at her.

At one point, the Queen frostily turned her back on Camilla during the blessing of the couples marriage.

But the worst moments for the new Duchess of Cornwall came when it was time to take the traditional family photos on the steps of St. George's Chapel. Royal aides had expected the Queen and Prince Phillp to spend at least five minutes posing with the newlyweds.

But the queen barely managed to spare 52 seconds to stand alongside the happy couple. She did not say a word to Camilla, now the country's second highest ranking royal, but spoke to her son.

Queen: 'That all went rather well.' Charles: 'Yes.' Queen: 'We are leaving now.' Charles: 'Oh, I really want a picture of us all.'

The Queen then moved quickly to stand further away from her new daughter in law, stepping around her to stand beside Charles. It was a day of astonishing put downs for Camilla, 57, delivered by her mother in law.

One observer told us: 'If the Queen had been any quicker, the pictures would have to been done on a speed camera. She looked grumpy and frosty to the bitter end.'

There were mutterings among the female guests as the Queen broke the golden rule of weddings--upstaging the bride by wearing white. Her off white outfit was almost exactly the same color Camilla had chosen for her civil wedding.

One guest said: 'She didn't join in on any of the prayers or hymms, she looked miserable.' Then, as the congregation sang 'Love Divine,' she lowered her order of service and turned her back on Camilla--even Prince Phillip was forced to shoot her a look!

One family friend told us: 'It was tough on Camilla. It wouldn't have killed the Queen to say well done. Nobody expected her to throw her arms around the woman but she was very cold to her.'

Later, things appeared to have warmed as the Queen unexpectedly made a speech at the reception--but later than cracked a joke at Camilla's expense, appearing to compare her to a horse.

To laughter from the guests in the State Apartments, she told the newlyweds, 'Welcome to the winners enclosure!' Seconds earlier, she had told the crowd that she had an important annoucement to make and then declared who won the Grand National Horse Race.

I'm going to hate myself for reading this, but somehow I'll manage.

It is sad when the Queen would rather get to the limo and watch a horse race instead of spend time at her son's wedding. (even to his courtesan)

Here's my take on it.

Suppose my son(purely hypothetical, I have no children), a married man starts messing around with a second woman and nothing I say can possibly stop him. He sires two children with his wife while at the same time screwing the pooch.

(At this point, I'm telling his wife she needs to look to greener pastures because I've failed in raising my son and he's a sorry little bastard.)

They divorce and he takes up with the whore who he cheated on his wife with. They are now opening living in sin, shaming the family name and making a spectacle of themselves.

He comes and tells me "Guess what pop, I'm marring (BEEP) and I want you to be there for me." I try to reason with him that he's already made some really bad mistakes, he doesn't really want to compound the matter by making the mother of all mistakes.

Things devolve into a shouting match and rather than exercise my anger on his hide, I let him leave mostly intact. The wedding is set and I am forced by other family members(not to mention the requirements of protocol)to attend the fiasco.

You can bet your shiny (insert particular skintone here) arse I'm not going to embrace the whore who married my soon to be disowned son. She will be lucky if I don't have her disappeared in the middle of the night and blame a group of mohammadans for her disappearance.

HRH Queen Elizabeth II acted with more poise and grace than I would have ever managed under the circumstances, she should be applauded for not kicking the rottweiler.

I don't think Camilla gives a damn either. She's got Charles, and he's got her-- I think that's enough for the two of them. Now maybe they'll vanish for a while. I hope.

Hers featured a feather that was too dark, not nuptial-looking. It looked too autumnal, not spring-like.

It looked like an empty bird's nest.

Maybe one of the British Freepers could clarify this, but couldn't Elizabeth II abdicate in favor of William if she wanted to?

"Deja Vu. Isn't that what Camilla did when she attended her lover's wedding to Diana?"

In footage they showed of Camilla at Charles' first wedding it sure looked like she was wearing white.

My guess is that one minute for pictures is the very least HRH could get away with and not have it turn into an international incident.

You are blaming Camilla for the whole thing and you are wrong. Charles was a grown man and he didn't have to continue on even though Camilla was the love of his life. Diana chose to cheat too only you call it finding love and affection. What's the difference? Both were still married.

The Crown Prince of Russia was a hemophiliac, some say caused by the rampant inbreeding between royalty. The Empress was so desperate that she enlisted Rasputin to cure her son. "The Mad Monk" opened the door for the Bolsheviks to turn public opinion against the royal family, and they were slaughtered along with their servants. No seriously, they were butchered.

Murder is never right. They should have been exiled. I like tradition, so I'm okay with royal families and monarchies.

I agree. Charles and Camilla deserve a break. That guy has been through hell. I don't envy his life one bit. Now that he's finally married the woman he's always loved, people should get off his back. Personally, I hope they'll find happiness in the time they have left.

My mother looked very nice at 57, which was amazing because she was dealing with bereavement over the recent death of her 20-year-old son, the decline of her own mother's health, and the post-traumatic financial, emotional, and physical collapse of her husband, which forced her to become the sole breadwinner of the family after never having worked outside the home.

Most people cannot help their looks; but, given the resources available to her, Camilla does not appear to be taking full advantage of the opportunity. The marvelous thing about her looks is that it proves that you don't have to be a beauty queen to finally get the guy of your dreams. Secondly, it reassures others that he's really in love, and not just after her because she is a trophy, acquired to satisfy the needs of a weak ego.

Some news reporter on the tube made a comment about her head piece and said she specifically asked for this style of Quill hat because it represents all the nasty articles written about her relationship with Charles and her personal looks, or something like that, in other words she was giving the presstitutes the middle finger!! Bawhahhahah...she got her man!

Camilla was also supposedly wearing Diana's
'Princess of Wales' title pin on her lapel yesterday, this courtesan thinks she is going to be queen!
