Press Conference to Be Held for Imprisoned Rapper C-Murder in Baton Rouge, LA on April 6th, 2005 :

C-Murder to Change His Name and Take Action Against the State of Louisiana for Alleged Violation of His Constitutional and Civil Rights:

BATON ROUGE, LA -- (Corey Miller (aka C-Murder) has announced that a press conference will be held for him on Wednesday, April 6th at the East Baton Rouge Parish Court House located 222 St Louis Street at 11 am.

Baton Rouge Parish NAACP President Ernest Johnson will be filing suit against the State of Louisiana on Miller's behalf for alleged violation of Miller's civil and constitutional rights.

According to Miller's attorney, Ron Rokosky, "Corey Miller is entitled to a new trial. The fact of the matter is Corey Miller was tried, found guilty and sentenced based on the testimony of witnesses who admittedly perjured themselves.

There is no physical evidence in this case. We requested a new trial. A judge reviewed the case finding countless legal errors and in the interest of justice she ordered a new trial ultimately overturning his conviction.

Even though this judge acted properly, the Appellate Court is still denying Miller a new trial, which has never been done before in the history of Louisiana law," continues Rokosky," and is a clear violation of Miller's civil and constitutional rights."

Miller's representatives and the NAACP will announce what steps Miller plans to take and will respond to the actions of the State of Louisiana in regards to his well-publicized case.

"From the beginning, I have been a target because of who I am, my stage name and for my success as an entertainer and the success of my siblings.

People hear the name C-Murder and they don't realize that the name simply means that I have seen many murders in my native Calliope Projects neighborhood. I am not a murderer.

For this reason, I formally change my stage name to C Miller, the first initial of my name and my legal last name, in hopes that I can finally receive justice. I am not asking for any special treatment or favors, I just want what is due to me... a fair and impartial trial," Corey Miller.

C Miller's latest album release "THE TRUEST S*** I EVER SAID" debuted at #1 on the Billboard Independent Chart.

C-Miller? C-Felon would be more appropriate.

Yes, the legal system makes it a point to go after you for being successful in life, especially if your siblings are also successful. It's a good thing that Seinfeld didn't have a brother who was successful as an entertainer too; he would be on death row.

Doesn't this guy have a point? If you have followed this case even remotely you will know that this guy was unjustly put in jail. It is just another example of poor judgement by a court

Imagine that. Becoming a target, just because you changed your name to Murder and glorify crime in your songs (Partners in Crime, Trapped in Crime, Criminal minded, Gangsta walk, On the run, Street thugs, etc.) . Or that because you are successful and rich or that you would have successful or rich relatives, you would become a target. Nah. It would never happen. Not in America. < / sarcasm >

Was he really unjustly put in jail? Do you mean he is innocent, or that the procedure they used to put him in jail was not the proper one?

From what I've read, he killed a 16 year old kid inside some Louisiana nightclub in 2002, and it is this charge that puts him in jeopardy of spending the rest of his life in jail.

He was supposedly also involved in attempted murder as well, when he tried to shoot some nightclub owner in Baton Rouge (C-Murder had allegedly been refused entry to the club, and apparently did not take it well and tried to shoot the owner and a guard. However his gun misfired and he fled the scene).

I have no dog in this case, but C-Murder has some holes in his argument (and it also stinks of murder and attempted murder). The thing that is going well for him is that the witnesses against him are felons, plus some have already lied and stuff. It seems to me that he is a hot head who tends to react to perceived ills with gunfire, and that he is trying to get himself off through legal technicalities. But someone did kill that 16 yr old kid, and i haven't yet read anything that makes me not perceive C-murder as the (cold blooded) killer. If you have other info i would appreciate it.
