Funny.....I never hear of a cat killing any kids.

I did a GIS.. couldn't find any..

But I did see a film of a tomcat on a leash going nuts the other night on tv..
Something set him off.. They were filming an "adopt this nice kitty" spot..
The man handling the cat failed to release the leash and free the cat... ( very stupid move )
Cattus Furiousous ended up with leash wrapped around man's leg..
Trapped, and terrified, Cattus Attackmodius climbed up man's leg and Bit Him In the "Tender Vittles"..

After about 20 seconds of Cattus Deathgrippus, and much screaming, growling, and bleeding, Cattus Victorious, released his prey, satisfied that he had delivered his ultimatum of "let me go" forcefully enough..
The "cat food" was taken to the hospital for stitches..

And what in the world makes anybody think they have a right to endager the lives of innocent people and animals in a neighborhood? I had a neighbor who had a Rotty in their back yard that would on a regular basis try to beat/dig his way through my fence into my yard to get at my family and my dog. What right does anyone have to subject me to this stress on a daily basis? Can any of you twisted aggressive dog justifiers explain this to me?

Great, let's use our heads and figure this out on a case by case basis. Do I then have the right to defend my family and take this dog out, or do I have to wait for a borad to come loose and the dog take my daughter by the throat before I can kill it?

Or, in a sane world, should a dumbass jerk not be allowed to keep a viscious animal in his yard in the first place?

My sentiments exactly. Great post.

I just read one up there from somebody who would "take out" my dog if I moved into his neighborhood.

That might be the DUMBEST thing I've heard all week. Maybe not the most outrageous (I live in Madison, WI after all), but definately the dumbest.

If you moved into MY neighborhood, I'd come over, say "hi", and ask if I could pet your dog:)

I haven't seen a mention of Dobermans in this entire thread, but it hasn't been that long ago the dobie was considered "the most dangerous dog in america".. vicious and bloodthirsty.. Many have found that dobermans are beautiful, loving animals when raised properly..

Good point.

Yep you got the last word in BUFF wrong.

I know, I just don't use words like that. :) Dear Hubby was a Nav, Nav/Bombardier, then a B-1 OSO. We saw, Mather, Castle, Loring, Dyess, Ellsworth and got out after Gulf War 1. We had some good friends (guys) that were Missilliers (I think the correct term was Missile Pukes); they were at Minot and the Forks. I'm surprised you thought command post was dull! It sounds like you were in when morale was at an all time low (Jimmy Carter as Prez would do it!) We had a good time; mostly.

It was fun chatting with you today about dogs and boats!

No, half Rat Terrier, half Chihuahua. My husband thinks he looks like a rat.

One option that seems decent to me is residential tarriffs. Its a powerful and underused mechanism in our society imo..

I've lived in a large neighborhood that had a tight residential tarriff.. no wood burning, no dangerous dogs which they had a list..among other restrictions. If you don't agree with the rules, you dont' have to live there.

Also through the city government is another way, mainly in residential type cities. They grandfather all of the living dogs in the breeds they dont' want through. So no one loses their dog. They just can't replace it while living there.

Thanks, sorry about the profanity. I just get wound up whenever someone won't admit that their right to own a viscious dog does not override my child's right to breath. I don't have a problem with people owning any breed, but once they display this type of aggression, it's game over in my book.

My cousin swears they are gentle dogs and are only violent when trained to be that way. However, I have yet to see a story about a killer poodle or a killer cocker spaniel. Hmmmm.

It is instinct for them to attack and kill

Which is exactly why everyone of them should either be killed or quarantined for military purpose.

You don't see assault rifle stories about Daewoos either, they're all about the "AK-47", when the media latches on to something they don't let go and just like how you don't see stories about a citizen giving some thug robbing his house/business a dirt nap with an assault rifle, you don't see good pit bull stories either. Many stories the breed of dog is reported as a pit bull when it's just some mongrel, or another breed entirely.

It's also interesting how most everyone here doesn't trust the media at all when it comes to politics but are willing to take as gospel that same media when it comes to dogs.

The AKC recognized the Neopolitan Mastiff just this year. They have been around for a while, but they are popular now because of the movie.

Morale was good, 72-76 so Carter hadn't done his damage yet. I had just expected more than riding around the plains of Kansas in a Econoline Van visiting holes in the ground. Occasionally we had to make emergency visits and got to go Huey riding over the plains of Kansas and visit holes in the ground. I had applied for PJ school during basic but was turned down because I was married. Bummer.

What you need is to get to 'know' a cat....then you will be a changed man. Even the Pope says animals have souls and I have learned from experience that cats have character, purrsonality, are funny, lovable and great company....I'll never live without at least one.

I was just joking about cats. I prefer dogs, but there are some cats that I have liked.

"Needless to say the bf was very upset i killed his dog...."

Then, quite frankly, your boyfriend was a raging idiot...he SHOULD have been concerned that his dog tried to kill a PERSON...

PJ huh, my respect for you just climbed! Those guys are impressive! I didn't know being married was a dis-qualifier, but it sort of makes sense. My daughter, who is active duty AF, had students who were PJ's. She was telling me that their life expectancy in battle was like 20 mins or something obscene.

I had some friends in Command Post at Loring and they didn't get to leave the building. Your job did sound dull. My friends seemed to live on antacids from their job. I didn't know what they did, tho. You know, they could have told me, but then they'd have to kill me...
