I'm still sad and in disbelief that the rescue fell apart. It was on it's way. We were waiting there for ambulances but instead two Sheriff's cruisers arrived.

There's much work to do. There are many work groups here carrying on for Terri.

The April Daily Thread as before will be a meeting place, a news digest and even in the midst of sorrow, a place to make friends.

I want to thank everyone who did everything humanly possible for Terri and her family. Terri's safe now from a room with the blinds closed, strange people and armed guards. She'd still be here if it wasn't for judicial despots who it appears have never read the Declaration of Independence or the U.S. or Florida Constitution.

Freepers, Republicans and Democrats alike voted against Terri or didn't do enough to save her from Judge Greer.

I'd like to thank Ralph Nader, David Boies, Joe Lieberman and Wesley Smith, Phd, author of Forced Exit.

I have disdain for the Naughty Nine Republicans in the Florida Senate who vote "No" which barred Terri from legislative relief. The GOP House Members who voted "No" on Terri, shame on them too.

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE AGENDA AND WHO IS IN CHARGE? I'm afraid that Judge George Greer is in charge - of everything.

PLEASE HELP FLORIDA... CALL YOUR SENATORS AND CONGRESSMEN/WOMEN.

HELP US. We feel stranded by tyranny today, but Florida is ripe for change. We will demand it together as Americans.

I've been doing research on when food and water became a life-prolonging procedure and who was Governor at the time.

It looks like 1999 is correct and that Governor Bush signed it into law.

End-of-life Care:
06/11/1999 Approved by Governor; Chapter No. 99-331

The definition change for what is a life-prolonging procedure was introduced by the Committee on Health, Aging and Long-Term Care and Senator Klein

Jeb Bush was elected in Nov. 1998 and reelected in Nov. 2002. So, he should have been Governor on 6/11/1999 when the changes were put into effect.

This is the way it read prior to 1999 changes:

1998:

9) "Life-prolonging procedure" means any medical procedure, treatment, or intervention which:
(a) Utilizes mechanical or other artificial means to sustain, restore, or supplant a spontaneous vital function; and
(b) When applied to a patient in a terminal condition, serves only to prolong the process of dying.

The term "life-prolonging procedure" does not include the administration of medication or performance of medical procedure, when such medication or procedure is deemed necessary to provide comfort care or to alleviate pain.

1999 through 2004: (2005 not listed yet)
(10) "Life-prolonging procedure" means any medical procedure, treatment, or intervention, including artificially provided sustenance and hydration, which sustains, restores, or supplants a spontaneous vital function. The term does not include the administration of medication or performance of medical procedure, when such medication or procedure is deemed necessary to provide comfort care or to alleviate pain.

The definitions are in chapter 765 of the Florida Statutes, specifically:

I can not think of any other reason for the change in this law, except to make it easier to eliminate people like Terri. Jeb Bush allowed this change by signing it into law. He must now take political responsibility for signing this law.

I finally got through to Delay's aide just now. I directed them to read the Tampa Tribune article today. The Florida Legislature and Governor Bush are putting the Schiavo type legislation on the back burner and if they try to get it up for a vote again, JIM KING stated in today's paper that he will fight it.

They are trying to sweep a murder under the rug and not interested in saving future Terri's imo.

We MUST go over their heads to the feds. (rhymes). DEMAND A SPECIAL PROSECUTOR. SOS FROM FLORIDA!

OHhhhhh FV, I would have given anything to attend that service. My heart has been with the Schindlers since I woke up this morning. I have a precious white teddy bear with a cross on it whose name is " Believe" He is going into the mail this morning for the Schindlers to cuddle. I will NOT give up on Terri's cause. BTW, Dr. Dobson is STILL on TERRI giving out pointers as to what we can do now to change the " black robed monsters"!!

Thanks and Tampa Tribune today (should be on line) is putting the issue of killing disabled people who have no living will is ON THE BACK BURNER. They all agreed. That means that Dave Simmons was untruthful in his press release about investigating George Greer. Dave Simmons is on my back burner... GO FEDS!!!

Pastor William Rice of Calvary Baptist Church to Judge Greer, "You must know that in all likelihood it is this case [Terri's case] which will define your career and this case that you will remember in the waning days of life. I hope you can find a way to side with the angels and become an answer to the prayers of thousands."

Rice continued: "Morality and truth must serve as our guide. Terri Schiavo is not on life support. She is not dying. Good evidence exists to suggest that she is responsive. All she receives is food and water, the same as you and me. Are we to conclude that she is less than human because she cannot feed herself? Can a month-old child feed himself? Is an elderly patient stricken with some debilitating disease and unable to feed herself suddenly less human? Do we now use an IQ test to determine if someone possesses the right to live? Isn't that God's choice? Only God can give life, and only He should take it away."

Greer opted to leave his church – and, presumably, his weak faith.

If I am not mistaken, in more than one article I read in the TEJ, it was said that Felos and others close to the case pushed for that law.

Also, in October 2003(Terri's feeding tube was removed in Ocotber 2003 for 6 days) Jeb Bush asked Thomas More Law Center to look into the facts and the law of Terri's case. They did and not only adivised Jeb to intervene based on the facts and circumstances of the case, but gave him the laws which stated he could intervene.

I also read President George Bush signed similar laws, to the ones Jeb Bush signed, in Texas.

"I have never been a strong supporter of some of the decisions that have come from the courts," said Senator James King, a Tallahassee veteran who has had his own legislation overturned. "But I am a strong supporter that we are a nation of law."

King said he expects lawmakers will revisit the issue of the oral directive, which was at the crux of the Schiavo case. As he did last month, King said he would fight any effort to do away with honoring such directives, often made verbally between husband and wife. The issue could come down to how many people are required to have heard such a directive and what their relationship is to the patient, King said.

"Is there going to be a revisitation? Sure there is, and it's probably warranted - as long as everybody recognizes that what has been in place up until Schiavo hasn't even hit a speed bump," King said.

I heard on wfla radio 970 that Judge Greer NOW wants the DCF to open their sealed file to see if Michael ever beat Terri up. (power brokers playing games with people's lives).
