Rev. Gene Robinson: Jesus 'might be 'gay''
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | April 3, 2005 | WorldNetDaily

Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson, the first openly
homosexual bishop of his denomination, has angered
traditionalist Anglicans by suggesting that Jesus
Christ might have been homosexual.

Robinson, who left his wife – and mother of his two
daughters – to cohabit with his male lover, Mark, made
his inflammatory remarks during an address
titled, "Homosexuality and the Body of Christ: Is There
a New Way?" at Christ Church of Hamilton and Wenham,
Massachusetts. The bishop was asked by a congregant how
Christians could both accept homosexuality and the
Bible's emphasis on redemption for sins.

The Bible states Jesus was without sin. The Bible also states that homosexuality is a sin....so this doesn't fly at all.

From the article:

Robinson, however remains undaunted by the criticism, saying he has reconciled his homosexuality and his faith. "God's light and God's life ooze over me like warm butter," he declares.

The gay-faux-Christian lobby's answer to Orville Reddenbacher.

There's nothing shocking in this country anymore. If it's stupid, immoral, against children, against public safety or otherwise outlandish, not only will it be done, but it will be praised by a doting leftist press.

In the 60's some how we went into a decline we have yet to recover.

Some how good people just sit back and allow it.

Even as a child, I was terrified by Floyd.

I think it was the old SCTV show that did a parody of the Andy Griffith Show. The Floyd character in the parody was this absolutely creepy maniac. That was one of the funniest parodies I have ever seen. I think. I don't remember the dialog from it but I remember the Floyd character menacingly sharpening his razor blades and staring into the camera with a dememted expression on his face.

Now there is a visual I didn't need.

Yes, I believe Joe Flaherty, of SCTV, the Pittsburgh native comedian actor, played the role. Not sure. He did play the comical role of "Count Floyd" (a TV b horror flick host).

Jesus was an unmarried, "non-traditional man"

In the sense that Jesus was the Son of God, I could say that is about as non-traditional as it gets. Yes, I know that's not what this idiot is getting at. Homosexuals seem to view absolutely everything through the prism of their sexuality.

Everything is about sex with these people

Robinson, however remains undaunted by the criticism, saying he has reconciled his homosexuality and his faith. "God's light and God's life ooze over me like warm butter," he declares.

Sheesh

Rick Moranis (Of GHostbusters and "Great White North"/Strange Brew fame played the hilarious role of Opie Taylor. Either on SCTV or SNL. It may have been that satirical writer and naughty comic genius, the young Conan O'Brien, who suggested they pack the back of Moranis' (Opie's)Sears toughskins denims with toilet paper to create the unusual gay-friendly physique of the young Ronnie Howard. Well, well... Strange things on '80s TV, indeed. Was someone trying to clue us in to something odd about the old Andy Griffth Show? The Dixie pink mafia...

Blasphemy.

I would do my best to drum this guy out, if that were my denomination.

I can't tell you the drunks who called me 'Barney' when I was in law enforcement.

I expect it was you, and not they, who had the last laugh :)

Bishop Robinson's true full name is Vickie Eugene Robinson. His parents knew something at birth I think, or he lived up (down) to his name..

"He really said that?"

The man is an idiot! He actually compared himself to Christ on the Cross, after he "suffered" before he was elevated to Bishop. Forget his homosexuality, divorce, etc. it should have been his preening self-regard that disqualified him.

For what it's worth our small non-ECUSA traditional Episcopalian Church has seen a HUGE increase in membership in the last year to the point where we're facing a huge space problem.

We're 1928 prayer book and our first article of religion is that priests must be male hetrosexuals in just those words.

I can understand that it can be very hard to leave a Church you've attended since childhood I feel for those torn by Robinson but eventually there is a breaking point. Many were waiting for the results of the recent Primate's meeting. Sadly the only thing I can see that came out of it was a statement that said nothing.

I pray for discernment for my orthodox bothers and sisters in ECUSA that are going through this conflict.

In the Catholic Church, I can assure you that there have been and are VERY HEATED debates and arguments that homosexuals and anyone with gender ambiguities or psychosexual disorders should not be ordained or admitted to holy orders. Seems like common sense, even just based on the nearly BILLION dollars the church has lost from sodomy molestation cases.
