Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson, the first openly
homosexual bishop of his denomination, has angered
traditionalist Anglicans by suggesting that Jesus
Christ might have been homosexual.
Robinson, who left his wife and mother of his two
daughters to cohabit with his male lover, Mark, made
his inflammatory remarks during an address
titled, "Homosexuality and the Body of Christ: Is There
a New Way?" at Christ Church of Hamilton and Wenham,
Massachusetts. The bishop was asked by a congregant how
Christians could both accept homosexuality and the
Bible's emphasis on redemption for sins.

It should begin, "The distinguished e-coli theologian Gene Robinson speculates that..."

I have heard a theory advanced by some historians that it is quite possible that Jesus WAS married. Funny no one mentioned this in any gospel.

Jesus forgave him before he even uttered the words. Still the Bishop chooses to insult the Christ eternal. While I can't directly help the Bishop, I'll reflect on his example of what not to do and try to be a better servant.

"Those seeds were sown in the 60s when non-believers ran to seminaries to avoid the draft."
- Interesting, and quite possibly true.
As I said, the seeds of this church "coup" would make the subject of a good book. It would be relatively easy to research the backgrounds of the current hierarchy to turn up any common threads on their pre-seminary views. There may even be an "old boys network" in play here where they have helped each other up the organizational ladder over the years until now they dominate the discussions on church positions over social issues.

The assertion that Jesus of Nazareth may have been a sodomite is completely and totally absurd, utterly without textual or historical foundation. Sufficient grounds for immediate forced retirement.

"Homosexuality and the Body of Christ: Is There a New Way?" Vanity, vanity, all is vanity, and there is nothing new under the sun.
Still true today.
Shalom.

There have been several books about the infiltration of the Catholic Church and how that developed (sadly) through the 1960s to the 1990s.

Now I know why I don't go to church anymore. I was baptized and confirmed in the Episcopalian church, but the attitude of church leaders over the past twenty years has become more and more radical. I grew apart from the church, but not God. This statement is so over the top that it represents a crossroads for the church. It will be interesting to see which path it takes.

The Episcopal church appear to fear the opinion of men over the opinion of God. They will exercise no church discipline in this case....and the infection will fester until it overtakes them.

Otis as the self-loathing drunk in-the-closet homosexual? The actor who played Otis was a devout Christian - or at least converted later in life. He was the original voice of John Avery Whitaker in Focus on the Family's "Adventures in Odessy" until he passed away.
Shalom.

Ordinarily, I would respond to something like this by saying "Get thee behind me Satan!", but in this case Vicky Gene Robinson would just squeal with delight and start pulling it's pants down.
Robinson is Satan's pawn and doesn't even realize it.
To: DaveTesla
The Rev. Gene Robinson might, er.. WILL, go to hell if he persists in that nonsense.

Yeah right, because the Gaystapo never accuses men in hetero relationships of being gay.
You missed my point. The one documented case of Jesus having a romanic relationship, Mary Magdalen, and by the church discrediting it, they open the door to problems like the article at the top of this thread.
To: DaveTesla
Gene Robinson must have some serious doubts where is soul will be after death. The fact that the sodomite tries to use Jesus as an out to justify the behavior tells me that.
This is like a perverted form of Pascals Wager, instead of a wager on the belief on God, it's a bet to see if God approves of the unnatural act of sodomy.

Until Hal Smith (Otis) died, he played the voice of John Avery Whitaker on the Focus on the Family radio program, "Odyssey."

"saying he has reconciled his homosexuality and his faith"I guess no fewer words might be used to actually express where he places his faith. No wonder homosexuality is listed alongside sexual immorality as one of the things keeping a person from his inheritance.

He might well could. Will leave that judgment to The LORD Almighty.
However, the concern is that he take millions of little lambs with him, as they follow one they believe to be a shepherd while he actually leads them straight into oblivion, separated from the One Who loves them and gives them life and light, the Lord Jesus. As per Graham Kendrick:
"Shine, Jesus, shine, fill this land with the Father's glory; blaze, fire, blaze, set our hearts on fire; flow, river, flow, flood the nations with graces and mercy; send forth your Word -- Lord, and let there be light."
Our job is to warn them that Vicki Gene Robinson and his ilk are really wolves in sheep's clothing.
