You know that I want to know more about Rita Cosby's father right? She siad HER father was a Polish Freedom Fighter and that's why the Pope asked to meet with her.

The final, painful steps on his journey were more poignant and powerful than the "quit now" crowd could ever understand or ever will. The words of St. Paul about God's power being shown through human weakness were once more on display. His Calvary is over. The glory of the resurrection awaits.

Nicely said. And spot on.

General Prologue

Here bygynneth the Book of the Tales of Caunterbury

       Whan that Aprill, with his shoures soote
The droghte of March hath perced to the roote
And bathed every veyne in swich licour,
Of which vertu engendred is the flour;
5 Whan Zephirus eek with his sweete breeth
Inspired hath in every holt and heeth
The tendre croppes, and the yonge sonne
Hath in the Ram his halfe cours yronne,
And smale foweles maken melodye,
10 That slepen al the nyght with open eye-
(So priketh hem Nature in hir corages);
Thanne longen folk to goon on pilgrimages
And palmeres for to seken straunge strondes
To ferne halwes kowthe in sondry londes;
15 And specially from every shires ende
Of Engelond, to Caunterbury they wende,
The hooly blisful martir for to seke
That hem hath holpen, whan that they were seeke.

I love that picture!

I found it by accident on another member's profile page... remembered seeing it long ago.

They were such fine men.

Rest in Peace Holy Father. A great light has gone out in the world. This man was a giant, truly a legend. Prayers for him and for our Church that the Cardinals will elect the right man to lead us.

This is not a time for sadness.

We will miss this great and holy man but we rejoice in the knowledge John Paul's suffering is over and he is resting in the love and peace of the God he served so faithfully and so well.

We should offer thanks to the Lord for the life of a man who changed the world for the better and was a truly great Christian leader. May his message continue to reverberate throughout the world.

Condolences can be offered at www.ewtn.com
