Confirmed.
Vatican denies pontiff's death in an effort to refrain from linking a major church event to fool's day...insider news.
your welcome :-)
From a PBS documentary:
"And so we're all looking very closely when Jaruzelski and the Pope come out for their first public formal meeting. And the camera pans down, and you realize that Jaruzelski is standing there, his knees are trembling. And we all searched for explanations.
"Jaruzelski himself ultimately said, 'Those were the classic, cliched trembling knees in front of something I knew was extremely powerful.' The Pope had this kind of authenticity of nationhood, so that even Jaruzelski himself was put on notice that he was in front of the master."
I think that JPII would think of himself as God's Fool.

LOL! I think the Holy Father would like to see a little humor on this day too.
I'd rather see us all united by the Truth of our Lord Jesus the Christ.
This Freeper community is amazing. Thank you very much!!
Amen.
And we Catholics believe that the Pope helps us to maintain that unity in Truth.
See post # 1,021. I didn't mean anything negative about the Pope when I posted that thoughtless comment. I value my soul too much.
There are lots of free one's available, though often the formats leave a lot to be desired.
That might be a remedy at this time.
This is an excellent idea, especially considering what FreeRepublic has been through recently.
Though I will say that since the Pope was able to forgive his would-be assassin, surely FReepers can put an end to the rancor and forgive each other.
CNN reporting that the Vatican has said that sometime this evening or tomorrow, JPII is expected to greet his Savior.
My prayers for the Pope and all who love him. (From a non-catholic)
Out of respect for a great man, I will step down. Some other time...
I went to St Patrick's in NYC today around 130 p.m.
When one of the Priests spoke, he announced the Pope had passed away.
There was a huge cry from everyone.
I was very surprised when I came outside and heard the newscrews debating if the Pope had died or not.
I'm very sad, but the experience of spiritual understanding and community at St. Patrick's was an extraordinary one and I feel very humbled.
For anyone in NYC area, tomorrow will be an adoration at St Patrick's starting at 9 AM.
PAX TO ALL
This man was the universal pastor of all Christians.
He asked us Protestants in 1995, in Ut Unum Sint, how he might exercise his office in a way that we could accept, and we have failed to answer.
God speed John Paul, safe home.
gUESS i'LL HAVE TO CHECK INTO IT AGAIN.
It's a joke son...a joke.
A little levity in these dark times...
For me, the Pope will always remain the man he was years ago, straight and tall, striding purposly across the world with his hand out in friendship and love. Every time I think of him, I see him that way.
