Confirmed.
Great man.
And a lot less ethics and far more liberal.
I'm dealing with the same thing in the denomination that my husband and I attend. We began going together as a family before we were married and I really have coped well (*grin*), but occasionally someone will find out that I'm not 'from that denomination', and they will looked shocked and say "You're NOT a _________?!? Then what are you?" .. to which I reply "A Chistian, won't that do?"
They have a hard time responding.. hehe
My pleasure. I agree, at this time, any doctrinal differences can be and should be laid aside, at least I can and encourage others to as well, to pay homage to and honor a man of great courage and has been a benefit to the world through his promotion of and influence in freedom, life and peace. JPII's stances against oppression and injustice I have always admired.
HNN jumped faster than Fox. I was watching Fox on one tv, nothing, switched to msnbc on another, nothing, cnn nothing, hnn had the Pope died. Switched back to Fox and then they announced it.
Amazing isn't it.
so...... did your sister send her to the right class????? /sarcasm off :)
In name only..France is realy very secular, and in another decade or so, Notre Dame de Paris will make a beautiful mosque..
Is all the confusion the 24/7 news media getting used to the slow moving Vatican press corps or is it the Vatican getting used to the idea of 24/7 news cycles?
lol......
Nice pic, I understand JPII was quite an atheletic skier in his early days. I'll bet he was chomping at the bit to hit those slopes when that pic was taken.
As I said--on paper--and tradition does count for a great deal (see Italy's 20). From what I understand the core 1 or 2% who do practice in France are very solid--the only problem is that only they and the Moslems are reproducing--and there are, as you point out, a lot more Moslems
The alleged prophecy is of St. Malachy, although it appears to have been an addendum attached at a much later date. The prophecy states that the last Pope will be Peter the Roman "who will feed his flock among great tribulation, after which the city on seven hills will be destroyed and the great and terrible judge shall rule."
Rabid hate-mongering anti-Catholics think this means Peter will be a tyrrant, a bizarre inversion of the prophecy.
Incidentally, the "city on seven hills" is either Jerusalem or Rome. But the Vatican Hill is an eighth hill across the Tiber from Rome. The Bishop of Rome, nicknamed "the Pope," lives in symbolic exile from Rome, which represents the world.
You're right. Everybody's here to talk about the Vicar of Christ, but everybody's talking about other things instead.
LOL!!! Very cute story!
Cable nets really suck today....Here we have an 84 year old man, with Parkinson's, whose body is breaking down, and we are treated to endless inane discussion about his kidneys, BP, heart, sepsis, etc...Gawd..have they no shame..
I wonder what General Jaruzelski is saying in that bottom portion????
I recall reading the account of their mtg. on one of JPII trips to Poland. The two were at lecterns about 10 paces from each other. John Paul II was dressing him down and the General was reported to be visibly trembling. I'll never forget that account.
Thanks for the chuckle amidst all the sadness lately.
