Mel, along with just about EVERY other clear thinking, reasonable, bright and articulate true voice of long trusted and respected LEADERSHIP, *gets* it. And the list of prominent, bright, constitutional savvy and humanitarian minded Conservatives IS VERY LONG AND IMPRESSIVE.
I didn't get around to it, but maybe someone else could assemble--or add to--a list of those notables who are against the abominable starvation of this helpless innocent.
I'll start with Mark Levin, author of best seller "Men in Black."
I may not be the brightest or most articulate, but even I "get" it. Wish I had heard the interview, but I can't stand listening to (lies from smarmy) Alan Colmes and his guests just to hear Hannity get a few seconds of un-interrupted interviews (of subjects I usually tend to agree with anyway).
Im dumbfound not only at the drama unfolding, but dumbfounded at the fact that some of our fellow FReepers don't get it.
I shall try research & gather the names and post them in this thread. People should know and also be surprised concerning the pro-death crowd, as well as those well known personalities which are now publicly declared pro-life in supporting Terri's right to live.
It is now clear to me that judges who proclaim adherence to the original intent of the Constitution are not enough for me. They have to also demonstrate an acceptance of the original principles of the Founders also, among which is the principle that life comes from God.
It's the abandonment of that principle that has caused us all this immense grief. As a result the law simply refuses to accept a moral basis any longer.
Because our nation was founded on that principle the abandonment of it has made us into something the Founders feared rather than sought.
laura ingraham, ann coulter, mark steyn, ben stein, peggy noonan, thomas sowell, are a few, just offhand.
That means more than just one death and more by Judicial fiat to come, for many a Judge and Hospice will use this to open up beds -- but beyond that it will mean a breakdown in the Judicial system -- good people can no longer trust it. It will suffer from that vital nourishment -- for every working system of government needs the support of good people.
By starving Terri, the turtledove-like innocent, the Judges are starving themselves and their system -- they are themselves and their system committing suicide.
"I didn't get around to it, but maybe someone else could assemble--or add to--a list of those notables who are against the abominable starvation of this helpless innocent."
I think it's pretty pathetic that we need to a have list of people who are against, as you put it, "the abominable starvation of this helpless innocent".
In a non-bizzaro world that we apparantly no longer live in, I would have expected that everyone would be safely presumed to be against it.
