In his strongest comments yet on the Terri Schiavo case, actor Mel Gibson calls her killing "nothing more than state sanctioned murder.
The actor and director spoke out Wednesday night in a telephone interview with Fox News Sean Hannity.
"I heard their cry for help, Gibson explained his public comments. Gibson insisted that Terri Schiavo is not in a vegetative state.
Gibson said he decided to take a public stand because "it is completely wrong to deprive this poor woman from food and water.
He added that the court ordered method of killing depriving her of basic sustenance -- "is a prolonged and cruel execution.
Gibson said he is closely following the case and is astounded by the developments.
"I just sit here watching this whole scenario play out in front of me with my mouth wide open, that our country has come to this, he said, adding, "I think its a really black day.
The actor offered little hope for Terri Schiavo at this point, describing the appeals as "a little too little too late.
"Its nothing more than state sanctioned murder, Gibson continued.
He was also disturbed that a local Florida judge was given the unquestioned power to sentence Schiavo to death.
"All the big guys, theyve got their hands tied by some tin-horned judge down there, he said. "Common, when they want to whip a judge they got no problem getting Judge Moore in a heart beat.
"Its so wrong and I watch it, appalled and stunned, that we have gotten to this.

He Terri's family can hold an autopsy utilizing their own chosen pathologist & medical team and the results show undeniable broken bones, which can also be positively per-dated to her unexplained 'loss of oxygen' to the brain, 'husband' is going to be confronted with serious hard time, provided the jury & whomever the judge shall be, will not be bought off.
total insanity, total chaos. Cannot comprehend the why of it all. Protecting the innocent and helpless should be job one.
"Common, when they want to whip a judge they got no problem getting Judge Moore in a heart beat.
there is natural law and divine law and then their is man law. Then man law conflicts with natural law or devine law it is no longer law. It is tyranny
Then man law=When mans law
Your recourse is to get the law changed, not anarchy. Ideally the citizens should keep their thumbs on the pulse of the legislature and watch it closely. This way they keep informed and can help sway the legislature's opinion when writing new law. The citizens have only themselves to blame if they sit back and wring their hands when the law is not in their best interest.
That will be quite a turn around, it will take them some time to make that manuver. But if they do then they will have finally gotten something right for a change.
Let's not be too harsh on poor Mel.
We do not know what, in fact, Mel may have been doing behind the scenes to support Terri.
Mel may have been compelled to speak out now due to the appaling injustices the courts have perpetrated on Terri.
Terri's family put so much faith in the courts, and I am sure Mel was respectful of their judgement.
Blah, blah, blah from the kneejerk balme Bush crowd. Jeb Bush pushed and signed the original Terri's law.
It was the kangaroo Florida Supreme Court which ruled against it and giving greer cover.
BTW, I think 6 of the 7 judges on SCOFLA were appointed by democrat lawton chiles.
To those on here supporting Greer's abiding by the 'law' rubbish, so did the 'judges' of the Third Reich.
Yup, that is 100% correct. "A republic ma'am if you can keep it".
I think every single elected politican in the entire USA, from school board to the highest office in the land needs to be voted out of office. And then next election vote them out again.
Mel's production of "The Passion" was excoriated by the same people who are killing Terri..They tried their best to stop this film because they do not want truth out there..Everything they do is a distortion of God and nature..Those of us who are so profoundly disturbed by what is going on should remember the thoughts of our good family friend Otto Scott, who is very elderly now. He wrote books about the French Revolution..He told us that nations in moral decline will proceed slowly at first and then, the slippery slope gets very steep and the remainder of the decline into tyranny goes very fast..So fast that the population cannot take in what is happening..I believe that is the case here with Terri's murder by the state. Those of you here who are irritated by Judeo-Christian writing should skip this part of my posting for these powerful words come from Psalm 31 and I post them because my own spirit senses that Terri might say this if she could speak to us now, using the thoughts of the Psalmist..."Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eyes gow weak with sorrow, my soul and my body with grief. My life is consumed by anguish and my years by groaning; my strength fails because of my affliction, and my bones bones grow weak, because of my ENEMIES. Those who see me on the street flee from me..I am forgotten by them as though I were dead; I have become like broken pottery. For I hear the slander of many; there is terror on every side; they conspire against me and plot to take my life..But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, 'You are my God.' My times are in your hands..Deliver me from my enemies and from those who pursue me..Let their lying lips be silenced, for with pride and contempt they speak arrogantly against the righteous. Love the Lord, all His saints! The Lord preserves the faithful, but the proud he pays back in full. Be strong and take heart, all of you who hope in the Lord."
The word of the Lord is powerful and true and this word will prevail. In a short time all who journey here on the earth at this moment will be gone and then an accounting will take place for eternity. Good is real and evil is real..God's word tells us that evil men will pervert the concept of good and evil so that evil is called good and good will be called evil..We are there!
I shall try research & gather the names and post them in this thread. People should know and also be surprised concerning the pro-death crowd, as well as those well known personalities which are now publicly declared pro-life in supporting Terri's right to live.
I did some quick typing while Mel was talking. Here's what I got down, although not perfect quotes:
Mel Gibson thinks the last-minute politics is CYA. "Come on. When they want to whip a judge they can whip him in a heart beat. Look at what they did to Judge Roy Moore."
He described what's happening to her as a "crucifiction". He added, "Even a dog has more rights."
"They've become completely transparent to me, all of them. This last minute thing they're trying is just covering their [censored]."
"I've been kicked around so much I don't give a damn anymore."
"It's a terrible tragedy to watch a state-sanctioned murder."
let's see, every government entity top to botton involved in this case both USA and Fla is controlled by the GOP and Greer is GOP too. But the GOP was hepless? Is that your story? Are you sticking too it?
God Bless him.
thanks for writing that.
