For the greatest of all time, I'd have to go with "Johnny B. Goode" by Chuck Berry with Little Richard's "Long Tall Sally" and, of course, Elvis' "Hound Dog" right up there near the top as well. IMHO, I think Skynyrd's best tune is "Gimme Three Steps."

And, as disussed some time ago, my choices for the greatest obscure rock numbers are "I Want Candy" by the Strangeloves and, for the ballad, "Smokey Places" by the Corsairs.

Best licks, IMHO:

"Gimme Shelter" - Stones
"Can't You Hear Me Knockin'" - Stones again
"Layla" - Derek and the Dominoes
"Won't Get Fooled Again" - Who, and my vote for all time best, most powerful Rock song, followed by "Behind Blue Eyes" from the same album (Who's Next)

"Sweet Home Alabama" is the greatest rock and roll song of all time.

They say de gustibus non es disputatum but frankly the only dispute here is whether or not this is the stupidest sentence ever written.

My favorite pick me up songs are "I Made I Through The Rain" by Barry Manilow and "Desiderata" by Roger Whittaker(?). Both songs remind me of just how strong I really am and how far I've come.

Almost anything by Bob Seger, but specifically "Like a Rock", "Feel Like a Number", "Beautiful Loser". The heck with it, all of his songs.

"Sympathy for the Devil", if you take the lyrics tongue in cheek the way they were intended, is the greatest rock and roll song of all time. Bongos, great chorus....

Best opening guitar riffs should include Ted Nugent's Stranglehold and Zep's Whole Lotta Love.

Some Lynyrd Skynyrd purists will tell you that "Sweet Home Alabama" isn't even the greatest Skynyrd song of all time, that the honors should go to "Tuesday's Gone" or some lesser-known album cut

SIMPLE MAN, followed by Gimme Back My Bullets, and Mississippi Kid. Although Sweet Home Alabama is a great song.

A song Rich Mullins wrote: "Nothing is Beyond you"

Where could I go Where could I run Even if I found the strength to fly And if I rose on the wings of the dawn And crashed through the corner of the sky If I sailed past the edge of the sea Even if I made my bed in hell, still there you would find me

Nothing is beyond You You stand beyond the reach Of our vain immaginations - our misguided piety The heavens stretch to hold You and deep cries out to deep Saying “Nothing is beyond You ...”

Time cannot contain You - You fill eternity Sin can never stain You - death has lost its sting I cannot explain the way You came to love me Except to say that nothing is beyond You

If I should shrink back from the light So I can sink into the dark If I take cover and close my eyes Even then you would see my heart You'd cut through all my pain and rage My darkness is not dark to you, night's as bright as day --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Confession is good for the soul and there are times I am a good "Metalhead" and hard rock, but I have a strange attraction to disco and bubblegum music which are passions of mine. I also like Barry Manilow. Still though to political opponents, I feel better thinking about them as the Arthur Brown song, "Hellfire" ("I am the god of Hellfire and I bring you fire!"). Hope you don't mind me doing this but I'll keep it abstract, when I was watching an interview with Michael Schiavo, on the radio came AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" and I had to turn it off, don't want any ideas. B-) I busted out laughing, think about what my grandma called "Demon Music." B-)

One song that gets me laughing is "Don't Worry, Be Happy."
