A federal court hearing has started in one of the last effort attempts by Terri Schiavo's parents to restore their daughter's feeding tube.
But the judge already has turned down the parents once. Bob and Mary Schindler are asking for an emergency order to reinsert the feeding tube in the brain-damaged woman.
The hearing in Tampa is before U.S. District Judge James Whittemore. He turned the Schindlers down once, as did a federal appeals court and the Supreme Court. A state judge, a state appeals court and the Florida Supreme Court also have all come down on the side of the husband, who wants to let his wife die after 15 years in what some doctors call a vegetative state.
The latest defeat for the Schindlers was today when a state judge said he won't go along with Governor Jeb Bush's request to order the feeding tube reinserted. The governor had said that new allegations of abuse of Terri Schiavo need to be investigated. The governor also tried to challenged the diagnosis that Terri Schiavo is in a persistent vegetative state.
And to think he can kill at the snap of the fingers.
No
I'd just as soon they not show up. I personally think both of them are into whatever they do for self-glorification.
This is a somber and serious thing going on. It merits deep though and reflection, operation from knowledge, conviction and strength. Circus distractions in that context are not a good thing, IMO.
You're right. Considering your previous level of discourse, I really don't care much about what you have to say.
I am hoping that's a joke.
Thanks. You articulated my feelings exactly.
Would you agree with that?
I don't see a "Guardian Division" in the Florida system. Unless my research was faulty, there isn't a category of judges called "Guardian judge." If you have information that corrects that, I'd happily receive it.
So unless I find further information that Greer wasn't a proper judge to hear this case, I have to conclude that the label put upon him is perhaps accurate in administrative terms only and that the implication that he is a judge acting out of jurisdiction or expertise is spin.
oH, MY GOSH.
I thought they were still in there, talking.
Is it over already??
But power comes from the barrel of a gun, as Mao sid, and the Judiciary have no guns. Their authority comes only from the respect we give them.
Well, according to many posters here, you are expected to sacrifice your daughter's life to the hallowed "Rule Of Law" of judges. And if you object you are a nutcase, destroyer of the Republic, etc. And for any other politician to attempt to override the judge's murderous order is apparently a worse crime than your daughter's murder itself.
I agree, the judiciary is totally out of control. Ignoring a Congressional subpoena is just one egregious example that should be punished severely.
Problem is, Frist and the other 'leaders' on our side have gone totally spineless on this. Just Monday, he was making some bold statements about not letting Greer get away with ignoring the subpoena. And, 4 days later..Greer has indeed gotten away with exactly this.
Frist's Presidential ambitions will be DONE, KAPUT, FINITO after this. If he can't stand up to one peon circuit court judge, how can he expect to convince us that he can lead the free world and stand up to the likes of Vladimir Putin?
Frist better get his act together and pull the "nuke" trigger on the upcoming judiciary battles, or he is absolutely a non-factor in this Congres.
They're saying on Fox it's not a bomb threat, but a report of a suspicious package. A backpack, I think. Let's hope it's something totally benign. The media was loving the idea of a rightwing nut planting a bomb at the court, of course. Even Greta was practically salivating. She seemed a little disappointed when they changed the story to a suspicious package.
It really is from a book he wrote but I got it from this site.
Do a Google and just put in George Felos book and see all the links you come up with.
If Jesse Jackson is on our side, I am seriously going to have to start reconsidering my position.
By murdering the disabled, we now resemble Nazi Germany in yet another fashion.
Soon, eugenics and designer children (only blonde haired blue eyed need apply) will be here, Hitler's master race, about 100 years after he tried it.
King, you better hide. But don't come to my house; I'm a green-eyed, gray-haired Pole, so they'll come for me first.
I mean have a daman heart for cripes sake Colmes!( I know--it's asking for too much)
Jessee is influential, very influential. For some he is like a minister. It would help if he came.
There is a circus going on anyway with tv, protestors, the news going on and on.
Jessee would help, I would like him there. Besides I think khe does believe this is wrong.
lol
Tell him to pull for my Pokes! I cheered for Sooners this year.....twice! ;)
Ahh, I understand much better now. The issue was a label-fixation thing! Well, I'm pretty sure Greer's court was the proper venue for the case. I'm surprised anybody would raise or even spend time disucssing that issue at this point in the proceedings. I thought the discussion was more along the lines of how big and imporant he was, e.g. a fun (but totally irrelevant) "Big state judge" vs "Little county judge" sort of thing.
