Schindlers' Options Dwindle to Hearing Tonight with Federal Judge (Motion DENIED)
AP ^ | March 24, 2005

Posted on 03/24/2005 4:45:17 PM PST by West Coast Conservative

A federal court hearing has started in one of the last effort attempts by Terri Schiavo's parents to restore their daughter's feeding tube.

But the judge already has turned down the parents once. Bob and Mary Schindler are asking for an emergency order to reinsert the feeding tube in the brain-damaged woman.

The hearing in Tampa is before U.S. District Judge James Whittemore. He turned the Schindlers down once, as did a federal appeals court and the Supreme Court. A state judge, a state appeals court and the Florida Supreme Court also have all come down on the side of the husband, who wants to let his wife die after 15 years in what some doctors call a vegetative state.

The latest defeat for the Schindlers was today when a state judge said he won't go along with Governor Jeb Bush's request to order the feeding tube reinserted. The governor had said that new allegations of abuse of Terri Schiavo need to be investigated. The governor also tried to challenged the diagnosis that Terri Schiavo is in a persistent vegetative state.

I want to join the lay-off-the-Bushes crowd. They are doing a lot and may not be finished. They respect the people who are sticking up for Terri. Let's respect them back.

FN is reporting a bomb threat at the Federal Court house in Tampa FL.

It's a "suspicious package."

Likely Randall Terry's bag of White Castles.

#349 and 350 are gone.

I hope it wasn't anything that I said.

"Fox reporting bomb threat outside fed court tampa"

That's just wrong. This doesn't help anyone.

Funny - I also have sent Hannity a thank-you and I've sent him many negative ones over the years.

Got to admit, although I get irritated at him, he has been a super friend to the Schlinders and has given fabulous coverage to their side.

No, I think suggesting the Gov and the Pres seize power like some tinpot dictators is radical.

Many of Terri's supporters want to carry the fight as long as as far in the courts as necessary. But none who are reasonable want to see some kind of executive coup d'tat here.

They want her to die because Gov. Bush, President Bush, Rep. DeLay, and many other compassionate conservatives tried to save her life. If she were a Lesbian murderess she would live long.

A woman's life hangs in the balance and some nutcase calls in a bomb threat! Unbelieveable. Thanks for the update.

Well it would be abuse of power, so the crowd on the left that's been begging for impeachment would get their wish. No idea if it would go as far as Clinton (or further) but it would totally discredit his presidency, thus ending our offensive in the War on Terror and his initiatives to reform SocSec and taxes.

Oh and his act would almost certainly be reversed by somebody somewhere and Terri would die anyway, just a few months later.

IF Terri ONLY had been a criminal she would have been saved

or a whale

Or a silvery minnow, kangaroo rat, or whooping crane;

Or a redwood, wetland, or polar bear;

Or a person of color, a transsexual, or a convicted pedophile;

But a white Catholic woman?

No room in the inn--try the gulag.

Yeah that is correct. There was an entire thread on it earlier today. Morrison lived with him just before he moved to calif.

Pray that Jeb Bush is on a 3 way call with

his father and brother.

They will convince him to follow God's Law, not man.

How lucky is Jeb to have a past AND present President as advisors!

A sitting president can't be arrested without his permission. He could spring Terri, wait it out another 3 1/2 years, then petition for Icelandic citizenship.

Yep, let's not throw the baby out with the bath water.

Focus on what and who is at fault. Not the Bush's, we know their will is good.

I don't know what #350 said but I certainly know what #349 said and that was despicable.

This sort of story is tailor-made for him. No 'deep thoughts' required. Just empathy. This is a case where he can look like he's about to break out in tears without looking like a fool.

It sure doesn't!

That is absolutely reprehensible, unthinkable! This is bad enough without some jerk doing something like that.
