That is what the Executive Branch of the State of Florida can and must now do.

You're so right, but he/she doesn't seem to think so.

you should be able to find a dozen armed Freepers and rescue her.

I'm sure most of us have arms... and hands and legs too.

And we could just try to storm the gates with a cup of water.... and get hauled away. I personally think that mobs of people should volunteer for this kind of peaceful swamping of the guard lines, and get arrested, and fill the jails to overflowing. I suppose this will result in a suspension.

"I agree with you, and I'm an atheist, for pete's sake. Every thread seems to have someone comparing Terri to Jesus. I can't believe that."

All of humanity can be compared to Jesus since he was fully man as well as fully God. All unjust suffering and death can be compared to Jesus' suffering and death. They are not at all identical, but that doesn't mean they don't have much in common. Jesus was one of us as well as being our Lord and Savior. Hope I cleared that up for you.

George Bush would be entirely within legal rights to take direct, personal action.

He already has - but what would you have him do now? Go to Florida with his six guns and take Terri out of there?

You would probably be one of the first to condemn him for grandstanding -

No, and I learned that a judge can do just about anything he or she wants within the courtroom. The judge sets the rules.

Are you a troll or just dense

He's joking. I keep telling people this, but few are listening, much to Chad's delight. : )

My point is would you have wanted Clinton to violate the Constitution if he felt strongly about something? You're in trouble once you start forgetting the law and doing what you think is best.

If more people would just understand how our government was designed to work with checks and balances under exceptional circumstances we would not be in this mess. The judiciary does not have the power to do a thing but issue opinions. That is all, nothing else whatsoever. Read Federalist #78. The courts have NO POWER AT ALL. They depend 100% on the assent of the executive to do anything.

The executive has the power to do everything and anything. There are several checks on the executive, none of which come from the judiciary - by design. That design is just so the judiciary cannot force the executive to do anything. Read Marbury v. Madison. It's easy to find. The legislature can impeach and remove the executive for any reason at all, e.g. if they don't like his tie, anything. Or his officers can refuse to carry out his orders.

I refuse to be one of those that looks to pin the blame on good people because I feel helpless though. Too many are doing this.

I agree 100%. I've never seen such unbridled evil prevail in this country. We MUST remember to blame the guilty, not those who have tried to stop it.

My Best guess is the Judge initially rulled that DCF could not go in and get Terri. Gov. Bush has requested a HEARING so that the state could present its case on the ABUSE issue. The Judge has NOT YET ruled on that request.... IF the Judge grants the Gov. request, than the STATE would take CUSTODY of Terri, and the FEEDING tube would be removed.. FOR THE JUDGE to DENY the STATE the opportunity to make their case would raise this to a NEW LEVEL of SICK...

"If I might add, 1. Terri is not sinless. 2. Terri's suffering is not meritorious for herself or others. 3. Terri and Greer both need a savior. 4. This situation is bad enough without having to make inane and blasphemour comparisons between the suffering of Terri and the suffering of my beautiful Lord Jesus Christ."

Please see my post just above. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I so hate having to do this. I missed the beginning of Chad's input on this thread and, you're right, facetious describes it well. I just went back and read his input here start to finish. So ....

Chad, the fact that we've bumped heads before is no excuse for my hastiness with the flaming arrows. I missed your intent and I apologize. Can you lend me some mustard or ketchup (not Heinz) to put on my foot before I put it in my mouth.

I'm with you. People on this thread are irrational.

They expect President Bush and his brother to act like dictators.

So if Reno poked her nose in the Elian case, why can't Gonzales step in so Jebbie can save face

It saddens me that for some reason you believe saving face is the essence of this matter....
