Luke 22
66: At daybreak the council of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and teachers of the law, met together, and Jesus was led before them.
67: “If you are the Christ,[d]” they said, “tell us.” Jesus answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe me, 68and if I asked you, you would not answer.
69: But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God.”
70: They all asked, “Are you then the Son of God?” He replied, “You are right in saying I am.”
71: Then they said, “Why do we need any more testimony? We have heard it from his own lips.”

Luke 23
1: Then the whole assembly rose and led him off to Pilate.
2: And they began to accuse him, saying, “We have found this man subverting our nation. He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar and claims to be Christ,[a] a king.”
3: So Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?” “Yes, it is as you say,” Jesus replied.
4: Then Pilate announced to the chief priests and the crowd, “I find no basis for a charge against this man.”
5: But they insisted, “He stirs up the people all over Judea[b]by his teaching. He started in Galilee and has come all the way here.”
6: On hearing this, Pilate asked if the man was a Galilean.
7: When he learned that Jesus was under Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time.
8: When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased, because for a long time he had been wanting to see him. From what he had heard about him, he hoped to see him perform some miracle.
9: He plied him with many questions, but Jesus gave him no answer.
10: The chief priests and the teachers of the law were standing there, vehemently accusing him.
11: Then Herod and his soldiers ridiculed and mocked him. Dressing him in an elegant robe, they sent him back to Pilate. 12: That day Herod and Pilate became friends–before this they had been enemies.
13: Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers and the people,
14: and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined him in your presence and have found no basis for your charges against him.
15: Neither has Herod, for he sent him back to us; as you can see, he has done nothing to deserve death.
16: Therefore, I will punish him and then release him.”
18: With one voice they cried out, “Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us!”
19: (Barabbas had been thrown into prison for an insurrection in the city, and for murder.)
20: Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate appealed to them again.
21: But they kept shouting, “Crucify him! Crucify him!”
22: For the third time he spoke to them: “Why? What crime has this man committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty. Therefore I will have him punished and then release him.”
23: But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed.
24: So Pilate decided to grant their demand.
25: He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they asked for, and surrendered Jesus to their will.

Since a court is already involved here, I am not sure that Jeb actually has the legal right to take her into custody.I think post #408 is correct. Just from my understanding of the law.

God's will is NEVER THAT AN INNOCENT HUMAN BEING STARVED TO DEATH AND DEPRIVED OF WATER. Ppplllleeeeaaaasssseeee!!!

If I thought it was God's will that Terri be starved to death, I'd join the forces of evil. Give me a break!

I too am tired of reading how "it's God's will if Terri dies".

If you are going to demand that the governor of a state end up in jail and give up his political career in the process

*****************

Why would that force him to give up his political career?

I believe he will...I believe he is trying to buy as much time for Terri as possible before a court order is required, and to buy time to try and ensure that court order can come from a more friendly source.

I pray I am right.

Otherwise, I see no reason for his news conference yesterday. IMHO, in retrospect, he should have held it today and simply taken her into protective custody.

Lot's going on here behind the scenes I am sure. Greer/Felos/Michael have, for some reason, a hugely disproportionate amount of power...there is some reason for that, and it's probably very dark.

I pray Bush will act and that he and those seeking to save this innocent woman and return her to the love of her parents will persevere and win out. With God's help, they shall, one way or the other.

A delay can also mean Greer is actually considering the motion and looking for legal support.

Unfortunately, it takes time.

If you want quick, then he could say , "No, I already ruled." and let it go at that.

Is this true,I almost hope so because for me the thaught that there are so many judges unwilling to rule to stop this execution by starvation, scares me. I am a lawyer and so are many in my family, and I cannot make sense of it legally or morally.
Sorry for the rant.

>>It sounded to me like the governor listened to the news conference that Jeb Bush had yesterday and struck first: barring DCF from getting involved.<<<

C'mon! You may wish he could do more, but he has to stay within the law of the land.

The Supreme law of our land and our entire jurisprudence is based on God's word, the Bible. George Bush would be entirely within legal rights to take direct, personal action.

When the judge rules negatively it is a formal "Declaration of War".
Time to lock and load.
"It is NOT possible to compromise with evil".
"It is NOT possible to negotiate with the corrupt".

"Well...in that case..if people in here want Jeb to break the Law...then I don't understand why THOSE people who condone breaking the law don't go to FLorida right now, break in and give this woman ice chips? All of you together...storm the place. THe hell with the law then. Right? What would Jesus do? Right? Go do it!! Quit 'talking' about it. Action....go.....NOW....."

It's the old "Let's you and him fight" routine. That's why there are never very many people at the hospice protesting.

Actually, I havn't eaten anything yet. But that's not the point! The point is, Bush is doing nothing! I want Bush to take the law into his own hands, violate the constitution if he has to! He must do SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!!

what an escalation of barbarity that would be!

You're right, I know. It would be. But the idea that this poor woman is shriveling up as I write this (lack of food is one thing, lack of water quite another) makes me angrier than I've been in a long time. God, think of what her parents must feel.

Why would DCF have to take their pleadings to Greer? Isn't he a Probate judge? Does he really have original jurisdiction over the new issue that DCF would be raising?

I could be wrong .. but I think it has to do with Felos filing a petition to block the DCF

Yes, and what happened to Tom DeLay who wasn't going to let "some little judge in Florida" mess with a Congressional order? Where are all those federal marshalls who were going to hold Greer accountable?

After hearing some of the congressmen speak about this I am convinced it was a publicity stunt. IOW, it was a freebee and they knew judge wouldn't pay it no nevermind. How else to explain the 'I can't believe he's ignoring our demand, but oh well' UN-like attitude of these elected officials. Don't make the demand if you're not going to back it up.

I wont go into all the reasons why - it seems some want him to come and grandstand - Jeb and "W" don't do that. They operate quietly to do all they can - it isn't over yet.

Then what was that press conference about yesterday, assuring everyone that DCF could take her? I'm sorry, I speak out of frustration and utter, helpless anger here.... I do believe Jeb Bush is a good man trying to do the decent thing, but I just don't understand this --- why the governor of the state can't just remove her. Sweet Lord, he can keep a serial murderer from the electric chair! He can't keep a helpless woman from being starved???? I am sick with rage. I refuse to believe this can take place all the while "good leaders" behave so (seemingly) impotent!!!
