Galen Keys, upper left, the children's mother looks on, but was not arrested. The mother insists it was the children's idea: "I am proud of them," said the boys' mother Geilen Keys from Texas, who was not arrested. "They are very mature and they said 'we want to go and offer some water to Terri'."
Pinellas Park police Lt. Kevin Riley, second from left, handcuffs 14-year-old Josie Keys, left, while Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies place her father Chris in the back of a van after arresting members of the family for trespassing Wednesday morning March 23, 2005 outside the Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Fla. The family members were attempting to bring Terri Schiavo a cup of water.
Gabriel Keys (foreground) is arrested by police officers for trespassing in Pinellas Park, Florida, March 23, 2005. The young protester attempted to take a glass of water into the Woodside Hospice for the brain-damaged Terri Schiavo. A federal judge rejected a request from the parents of Schiavo to order her feeding tube reinserted, dealing a blow to attempts by the U.S. Congress and the White House to prolong her life.
Ping...
Doing great...enjoying a little respite between basketball and soccer seasons...hope you, TNT, and family are doing well, too...MUD
"These pictures need broad exposure on FOX and all over the country."
I made the mistake of turning FOX on.
Shepard Smith and Judege Napaliono (sp?) were pro death.
NOT ONE MENTION OF THIS CHILD ABUSE!
You may have your opinion about this being exploitation, but you apparently have no experience with children raised with decent morals.
Can't do the time, don't do the crime.
I wonder if the Freepers who regularly applaud prison/jail rape will weigh in on this thread?
"it would be inconsistent of us if we approve when it is for an issue we support."
Well, many MANY Freepers apparently support the Federal gov't intervening in a state matter when it's an issue they support, so I suppose the rest is just par for the course.
Please forgive this nation.
AMEN
And Amen from from this parent.
I keep thinking of the crew of the "Lady Be Good" who bailed from a B-24 into the Libyan desert during WW2.
Well, I feel safer now.
As these kids were being handcuffed and hauled away, I was about a hundred yards away, held up at the corner because the cops shut down the street.
When one of the LEO's made the mistake of saying, "I'm just doing my job", I lost it. I thought Western civilization had about covered that at Nuremburg.
I told his partner, quite loudly, that he should resign immediately. He asked me why, and I told him it was because he was violating his oath to protect human life by acting as an armed guard defending murderers in the commission of their crime.
He got real red in the face. I thought he was going to arrest me on the spot, but he didn't.
The hospice grounds are an armed camp, complete with SWAT-type bus, K-9 dogs and LOTS of cops.
After all, they gotta protect Terri from those dangerous criminal 10 year-olds with glasses of water...
10 year old boy: "Will I get raped in the booking cell?"
Cop: "Not my problem, but at least you won't be dead like Terri. Now Get in."
America, 2005.
poing
they handcuffed the kid?
ya gotta be kidding me!(sorry I couldn't resist)
who's running the police force over there?
how embarrassing!!!
"My kids would do the exact same thing on their own, if we were there. They are loathe to let such a huge injustice go unchallenged. I would explain the ramifications to them first, but I would allow them to do this peaceful bit of civil disobedience."
Mine too. We talk about this case every day, plus they are talking about it at church.
"These officers remind me of those at Klamath sent there by their government to deny 1500 farming families of their water. They didn't want to be there. When talked to about what they were actually helping accomplish, most would move off and not talk to you anymore."
I remember you and I speaking to one of them in Aug 2001
The downward spiral of our society continues to gain momentum. Lord have mercy on their souls...
Yeah, isn't that a great picture? Really should make the libs proud! If he were being arrested at a war protest he'd be the hope of the future; here, he's "brainwashed" I'm sure they'll say.
