Second, Third Nurse Accuse Michael Schiavo

Second, Third Nurse Accuse Michael Schiavo

Two additional nurses have filed affidavits in the Terri Schiavo case that corroborate bombshell allegations by nurse Carla Sauer Iyer, who went public on Tuesday with claims that Michael Schiavo had deliberately withheld treatment from his disabled wife.

Heidi Law was a certified nursing assistant at the Palm Garden Convalescent Center in Largo, Fla., where she treated Mrs. Schiavo in 1997.

Story Continues Below

In an affidavit filed with the court in August 2003, Ms. Law maintained:

"I know that Terri did not receive routine physical therapy or any other kind of therapy. I was personally aware of orders for rehabilitation that were not being carried out. Even though they were ordered, Michael would stop them."

Law continued:

"Michael ordered that Terri receive no rehabilitation or range of motion therapy. I and [another CNA] would give Terri range of motion anyway, but we knew we were endangering our jobs by doing so.

"We usually did this behind closed doors," Law said, because "we were so fearful of being caught ... we were always looking out for Michael, because we knew that, not only would Michael take his anger out on us, but he would take it out more on Terri. We spoke of this many times."

"At least three times during any shift where I took care of Terri, I made sure to give Terri a wet washcloth filled with ice chips, to keep her mouth moistened.

"On three or four occasions I personally fed Terri small mouthfuls of Jello, which she was able to swallow and enjoyed immensely. I did not do it more often only because I was so afraid of being caught by Michael."

Like nurse Iyer, Law suspected that Michael was mistreating Terri, noting in her sworn statement:

"Several times when Michael visited Terri during my shift, he went into her room alone and closed the door. This worried me because I didn’t trust Michael.

"When he left, Terri was very agitated, was extremely tense with tightened fists and sometimes had a cold sweat. She was much less responsive than usual and would just stare out the window, her eyes kind of glassy. ...

"We were convinced that he was abusing her, and probably saying cruel, terrible things to her because she would be so upset when he left."

"The Palm Gardens staff, myself included, were just amazed that a 'Do Not Resuscitate' order had been put on Terri’s chart, considering her age and her obvious cognitive awareness of her surroundings."

Carolyn Johnson, a certified nursing assistant who worked at the Sabal Palms nursing home in Largo, said Terri's mistreatment went back to at least 1993.

"During this assignment I took care of Terri Schiavo several times," Johnson said in her own August 2003 affidavit.

"I learned, as part of my training, that there was a family dispute and that the husband, as guardian, wanted no rehabilitation for Terri. This surprised me, as I did not think a guardian could go against a doctor's orders like that, but I was assured that a guardian could and that this guardian had gone against Terri's doctor's orders."

Johnson recalled: "No one was allowed to just go in and see Terri. Michael had a visitors list. We all knew that we would lose our jobs if we did not do exactly what Michael said to do."

Johnson continued:

"I remember seeing Michael Schiavo only once the entire time I worked at Sabal Palms, but we were all aware that Terri was not to be given any kind of rehabilitative help, per his instructions.

"Once, I wanted to put a cloth in Terri's hand to keep her hand from closing in on itself, but I was not permitted to do this," Johnson said, "as Michael Schiavo considered that to be a form of rehabilitation."

Thanks for the update on the law which happens to be my profession. I am guessing you are refering to my statment, that I HAD believed the nurses were lying? If you read through the many posts, you will note that I had not seen or heard that these nurses provided affidavits. If I had, I would not have made the statement because I know the penalties of perjury. That is not to say that people do not lie under oath. I am to the point where I would say anything to save Terri. Not because it is right, but because CLEARLY her husband is motivated by something no HUMAN BEING can grasp. My point originally was that perhaps this is what the nurses were doing. Of course it is now more clear (thanks to many FReepers) that the evidence is unsurmountable and the nurses are inevitably telling the truth. If only a judge would look at their statements. RIGHT NOW!!

Many of you have probably seen this 1991 bone scan document. The address is below. Copy and paste to your browser to view, web traffic to it must be keeping it from being opened by clicking on it.

This document was what convinced me that there was must have been a fight in the Schiavo house, the night Terry Schiavo had her "collapse" from a supposed heart attack.
Merely my conclusion, come to your own, after reading the doctors notes.

I encourage all to view this document full screen. Read it all, and ask yourself" How could a woman have this much trauma to her body, from falling down in a collapse from a heart attack?
Also, please pass it along to others:

Terry Schiavo bone scan showing trauma:

On May 6th, 1990, two months after the mysterious incident that left Terri Schindler Schiavo severely mentally disabled, Dr. Hamilton, an Orthopedic Surgeon, examined her. A year later Terri was demonstrating painful reactions to physical therapy treatment, so on March 5, 1991, the Mediplex therapist director ordered a bone scan.

This bone scan revealed a healed broken right femur bone and healed bone fractures in Terri Schindler Schiavo’s ribs, pelvis, spine and ankle.

Dr. W. Campbell Walker concluded that Terri has a history of trauma and presumed that the other multiple areas of abnormal activity also relate to previous trauma."

A photocopied image of that document can be viewed here:
NOTE, you will have to copy and paste it to your browser to get it to open: (clicking on it will give you a 404 server error)

yes, that's an excerpt from the lawsuit when he was trying to get money for Terri's alleged miscare by doctors, who were later cleared, from what I understand. It is from the jury trial that he received over $1 million.

I loved when Sean talked with Dr. Cranford, the one who diagnosed Terri as PVS. He smushed him and exposed him for the fraud and euthanasia-loving doctor that he is!

WE are! Keep calling for a grand jury! Maybe if more of us raise a stink we can get it convened.

The more important question is where did you post support for Terri's views if you are on her side in reality?

Did you just join today to "play" lawyer for the opposition?

It looks more like you ARE the opposition from what I have seen.

This is BS...If this information was provided to Greer and he disregarded it, there should be serious problems for him. It cuts to the heart of the matter...If it wasn't presented to Greer...dare I say...maybe Shindler's attorney's were less than thorough. I used to investigate financial crime and the first lesson is FOLLOW THE MONEY.

Happy reading, then! I've got tons more where all that came from, but like I mentioned on an earlier post, sometimes I have difficulty remembering where I've placed it!

I believe Michael Schaivo's jury trial testimony, about his intentions concerning receiving money, to be spent on Terri's rehab, WAS brought up to Greer's attention. I believe Greer dismissed that.

However, it would be better if someone was absolutely clear on that, page and number. Maybe Phil Dragoo, FR_addict, ohioan or pegita know more specifics/documents or other FReepers to refer you to.

Greer can't afford to allow this type of stuff into the record, because if he does, it will show how incompetent (or evil) he has acted in regards to the guardianship. He has literally approved of every one of Michael's moves (or should I say lack of moves at times) regarding Terri. He is complicit in this, because if anyone looked in to the guardainship file for Terri, you would see that Greer needs to be behind bars for allowing this to go on!

MS also had to make certain any statute of limitations on attempted murder would expire.

As for the nurses, they could lose their licenses to practice their profession.

I had wondered about that. Non-ferrous metal is not a problem in an MRI, from the standpoint of patient injury (i.e., the magnets pulling the metal right out of the patient). Non-ferrous metal can, however, cause some interference to the resulting images.

I have a titanium plate in my neck. I did have an MRI following the surgery, but I ended up having to have a different radiographic procedure done because the titanium did interfere with the quality of the images.
