Tonight it is, March 22, 2005, over five days since Theresa Marie Schiavo commenced her ordeal of purposeful and legally sanctioned dehydration and starvation. We await a decision from the three judge panel from Eleventh Judicial Circuit as to her fate, as her family struggles with seeing Terri's physical health deteriorate.

This is the Reverend Jesse Jackson I was referring to.
Not his son (?) the congressman. But now you're saying that he voted "Yes" on the bill? Wow.

(You know, the Reverend Jackson was Clinton's "spiritual adviser" during his Monica problem!)

He was absolutely passionate tonight in decrying the horror of starving Terri to death. I thought I might be imagining it!

Have to agree with you. Terri has a death sentence based on a casual statement she made at a barbecue. There is no justice.

Greta, taped earlier, says that it has been agreed that the DCF, Dept. of Children and Family will open its files in the morning.

One guy on Greta is saying Judge Greer "is a great judge, has been kicked out of his church for what he has done, when all he has done is follow the law which is what we want from our judges." Blah.

I just heard a bio-ethicist from London on CNN saying we all should be on the side of helping humans.

Rick Warren on Larry King
RW: "If your heart is still beating, ... then God has a purpose for you in this life. God will take her home when He's ready to take her home....My life is not my own, it's God's.
The ultimate sin is saying I can run my own life. What's the worse sin? Not adultery or lying or stealing. It's when I decide to run my own life and be my own god.
LK: What if you're in pain?
RW: Proverbs says Give strong drink to a dying man...you don't have to walk around in pain. I do believe I dont'have the right to take my own life."
RW: "She's not artificially kept alive. If you stopped eating, you'd die too. That's just called living.
Caller: how can you say she's not braindead?
RW: Because she's reacting and smiling and laughing and communication.

Selkie, that is how MANY people feel. Some have even gone and done just that. The problem with it though, is that the libs win and take over the country and would soon be taking your land so that an endangered animal could repopulate there! (not to mention your disabled or elderly family members to put them out of their misery)

Conservative Christian men and women must stand firm and have a voice or we are doomed.

And Gloria Allred as well - she came out in 2003 for Terri.

THANKS, that fits the timeframe.

If the electrodes were used to destroy the memory center of Terri's brain, a side-effect could easily be violent convulsions and broken bones.

I think it only takes about 6 weeks for bones to appear healed, and the bonescan was in february or march 1991, I believe.

I found these references to electro-shock and broken bones...

Does anyone recall if the bonescan showed broken or cracked vertebrae, or breaks in places where Terri would most likely have been restrained like ankles and wrists?

"Despite what the minority democrats might want, there is no doubt that Frist understood what this exchange meant."

We would have been resigned to the inevitible on Friday, if this bill, such as it is, hadn't gotten the case into the door of the Federal Court.

I still have hope for the appeal and the Florida lawmakers. Maybe even a miracle or two.

Is Judge Greer the be all and end all of every decision made in this case, even the legislatures? If he is, I may give up hope.

Because "hearsay" of her alleged "death wish" has validity whereas "hearsay" of his alleged abuse does not.

Makes perfect legal sense, doesn't it?

[yeah...right]

Lifting you up in prayer, Kitty Mittens. Please comfort, KM, Dear Lord. Please give her strength and courage to keep fighting. Please ease her distress and give her peace.

Strengthen all of us Lord, especially Terri and her family.

clipped....

The bone scan report of TS describes an injury NOT to the anterior ribs, but, to a different part of the ribs-- posteriorly -- namely at the juncture of the ribs and vertebrae (the costovertebral juncture, or CVJ). In addition, although the report mentions several rib fractures, it does not specify if they were all CVJ located or in different/various locations. This is important. Finally, I do not see a report of correlative x-rays for the ribs, which would be helpful to determine the TIMING of the injury (fractures look very different depending on WHEN they occurred).

The compression fracture of L-1 is interesting. This is certainly NOT a typical injury that occurs during CPR as it generally involves an AXIAL load (i.e. on the top of the head; or from the top DOWN); a caveat here: if TS was anorectic for a prolonged period or on certain medications she could have been osteoporotic, in which case some might claim that a mild compression fracture of L-1 would not be so unusual-- however this is only true in ambulatory people, which Terri was not.

The uptake over Terri's distal right femur is the most peculiar element in this report. This is an unusual finding in ANY situation and I would have to see the scan and films to be sure of what it means; however, if there is PERIOSTEAL ELEVATION then one would have to posit (as did the person who interpreted Terri's bone scan) the possibility of bleeding underneath the thin covering of the bone (the periosteum) which is a finding that correlates highly with trauma, specifically, abuse.

I expect both of them will. The minuteman is hoping that some of "we the people" might still have honor and one day set this country straight again.

I'm having a hard time looking at my country now. I feel like it's got up and left me. I'm a native with very deep roots, but feel like an alien tonight.

Is anyone else here literally sort of "numb"?

Maybe it's shock.
I dunno.
Hell...I dunno anything anymore, if this is how "justice" is done.

While I commend Jesse Jackson speaking out on behalf of Terri, he should have gone down to the Hospice to protest. He travels everywhere else to protest.

But it could have been stopped.
And it wasn't.
You can only blame the people with the power to have made it different - to do otherwise is to blind yourself to the truth.
