Police marksmen have shot dead a man said to have been wielding a samurai sword on a busy main road.
The 26-year-old was shot on the A63 near Hull, East Yorkshire, following reports of a van being driven the wrong way down the carriageway.
Police said the man got out of the van and began to approach the marksmen.
He was shot with baton rounds but got up and continued to make his way towards the officers, who then shot him dead.
It was the first time Humberside Police had used a firearm during an operation.

So an armed British policeman is known as a "marksman?" How strange. I wonder what the next move will be. Disarm the police? Or write a new law banning all swords?
To: bedolido
In states with open carry laws, like mine :-p, can I open carry a sword?

It was the first time Humberside Police had used a firearm during an operation.
Heretofore armed only with whistles, Humberside Police historically threatened malefactors with "Halt or I'll Toot!"

With REALLY EXPERT swordplay he should have been able to deflect the incoming bullets. The lack of ability and training the perp exhibited are truly abominable.

of a van being driven the wrong way down the carriageway. Being Americentric like I am, he was driving the right way. Everyone else was driving the wrong way.
